Opinion Question for Red Sox fans?
I was just thinking about this the other day and wanted to throw it out there. How does the Red Sox Nation feel about Manny Ramirez? He is certainly known for his on-field antics - but it appears to me that when he took three straight strikes from Mariano Rivera (after coming up to pinch hit) that it was the final straw for many fans.
But maybe I'm completely wrong. (I'm a Yankees fan so I hate Ramirez by nature.) I just wanted to hear the fans' opinions on him now that he's been away from Boston for some time.

When he was a Red Sox you dealt with his crap because the man could play. Towards the end of his Boston career his antic got much worse than the old Manny being Manny. When he pushed the 65 year old traveling secretary to the ground for not getting enough tickets, that was the end of it for me. I can take him being an idiot on and off the field as long as he produces. But when you start assaulting senior citizens, that is taking it too far. Plus he was obviously mailing it in at the end of his sox career because he was unbelievable as a Dodger. I'm glad to see that he isn't getting signed. I'm even more happy that he will be someone else's headache this season.
Oh yeah, GO SOX!!!

Ok, that at-bat where he just struck out looking 3 pitches in a row to Rivera really pissed me off.
But here's my take on Ramirez.
I like the guy. He's one of the best hitters to play in the MLB, but it's his personality that bugs me (and the Red Sox management.)
He had mood swings worse than that of a teenager. One day, he'll be saying "I HEART BOSTON!!! DAVID ORTIZ IS MY BEST FRIEND!!! I WANT TO STAY IN BOSTON FOREVER AND EVER!!!" and then the next day he'll be like "F*ck Boston. F*ck this place. F*ck the management. F*ck the fans. F*ck the Red Sox, I wanna get the f*ck outta here."
All in all, I don't think he necessarily hated playing in Bosotn, but rather his mood swings eventually got under the management's skin and Theo couldn't take it anymore. Manny's attitude mainly depended on whether or not he had his morning sausages. I still kind of wish we had him. He made a lot of people laugh in the ballclub, but he could also be a cancer.

I hated him when he was a Red Sock (Red Sock lol), and i hate him more since he's in the Dodgers (I'm a Giants and Red Sox fan). If he goes to the Yankees, he would be the most hated player in baseball. Good player, but a complete jerk. Hopefully he wont go to the Giants because I rather see my fav team lose, than to have him. I heard he even knocked down a 60 year old man when he was on the Red Sox because the guy wouldnt give him tickets.

Its a little deeper than Ramirez striking out seemingly on purpose...He trashed Red Sox fans and also criticized Red Sox ownership...put them down...THAT was the beginning of the end for Manny in Boston...
And, oh btw...Jason Bay has been doing just fine for Boston...Thanks...

MAnny is a goof. He was always playing around but what he did in NY with rivera was the last straw ya he was a great hitter. But he wasnt great in the locker room remember when he got in a fight with youk. He is not worth what he wants to get paid.

Manny is a great baseball player (besides when he sand bags it on the redsox) but i dont respect him as a person and hope he gets booed to death next time he is at fenway

good luck W/O manny.
Jason Bay will go back to being inconsitent this year.
manny is one of the top 10 hitters of all time. This would be another curse starting in, just in case you missed it when you lost to the Rays.

I think he's a poor sport for not wanting to play. He was pretending his knees were bothering him so he had both knees checked and they were fine. I like Jason Bay so much better.
