Stuttgart or Molesworth? Anyone have experience in both?

I am retired military and have a choice between Stuttgart, Germany or Molesworth, GB.

I may or may not take my son, depending on work schedule. Anyone have pros and cons to living in both?

While I have been to both, I worked at RAF Molesworth and LOVED my job, whereas I LOVED visiting Germany more.

Coming from only being at large bases I found the situation at Molesworth difficult to adapt too. Like another poster suggested most bases in the UK follow a tribase lay out. You work on RAF Molesworth, live/tiny PX/Commissary/most base services at RAF Alconbury, and the medical care is at RAF Upwood which is a horrible clinic and tough to get into. Even though jobs at Molesworth are 24hrs there is no DFAC and only a small eatery that has horrible service and overpriced known as New York Pizza and Deli and a small gas station/ shoppette that opens late closes early so you're screwed if you work at night and run out of gas or need food. There's plenty to do around Molesworth, Cambridge is only 20 min away, London an hour and a half south and Birmingham an hour and a half North. People seemed to be happy with the school on base, but many cvilian/contractor friends did have their children go to a British school which they also seemed to be happy with. There is a larger tribase only 40ish min away that had a much bigger PX/Commissary and a decent hospital. Another base within that tribase had a nice furniture store.

I really did love my job at Molesworth but I worked on the NATO side. My husband (Navy at the time) worked on the US side and like it just as well.

With either situation you always have cheep flights around through Ryan Air or EasyJet to do plenty of traveling. The public transportation system in the UK is much better in the US and very easy to get around the UK on the train and even easy to get around London on the tube.

I've heard Stuttgart is nice. My husband was stationed at Molesworth for 3 years. It is a very tiny base with nothing to do. We were bored most of the time. We did enjoy visiting all the castles and palaces in England though. Molesworth is part of a tri-base that includes RAF Alconbury. If you take your son, he would go to school on Alconbury. The good thing about living on a small base is that you know everyone and you make some really good friends.

I have. Salvia is good for a 2 maybe 3 minute headrush. It is probably stronger for those few minutes than weed is even when you are really high, but it doesnt last. Weed tastes much nicer, the effects last for longer, and you will generally have a better time whilst smoking some ganj. Finally, taking a few hits of salvia regularly at times fairly close together can give you a banging headache (this may only be me though).

I loved Germany.... specifically Frankfurt. Stuttgart is nice as well. GB may make the language barrier easier if you're not fluent in german. Your son may enjoy GB as well, due to lack of language barrier.
