Which GPS system would you most recommend?
I'm searching for a great GPS system for my boyfriend. His job requires him to drive all over town to see his clients so it needs to be reliable, easy to use, and portable (to be used in his company truck and his personal car).
I don't have that much money to spend, looking between $80-$150?
Which GPS systems have you personally used and would/would not recommend? Also, is there some kind of subscription I will need to buy with it?
THANKS for any input!!

Garmin is the best brand. They use Navteq maps which provide the best accuracy and routing for the USA. The hardware is reliable and map updates will be available should yours start to get too old. You can't always count on that with the cheaper brands.
They are extremely popular because they are the best. How many items on Amazon get thousands of reviews? http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-3-5-Inch-Bluetooth-Po... You can find older, more basic or refurbished models a little cheaper if you search around. I don't know of any model they make that isn't good. But, always read some consumer reviews on the web before purchasing anything. Take individual reviews with a grain of salt, but see if it looks like there's a problem many people complain about.
Some models can receive traffic reports and route you accordingly. This feature would require a subscription if you wanted to use it. Otherwise, there is no subscription necessary to use a GPS.

I don't know where you'e gonna find one in that price range unless you find a really goof SALE. I have a Garmin Nuvi..I LOVE IT!! I got it for like 170.00 at BESTBUY...with taxes it came to 190.00.
Here are the prons and cons
Pros:
Small..Lightweight
Has a password option on it
Easy to function
Con's
Sometimes will lose satellite connection when not plugged into charger
but You can still look at the screen for directions.
as with ANY GPS..It will sometimes tell you to make a U-turn when its IMPOSSIBLE or tell you to make a right turn on a ONE-WAY STREET You just have to have common sense....and you will be fine..I love the Garmin because its simple and does its job....I get lost easily and I haven't gotten lost with this..However It has made me lazy...Its easier to learn you way and around and for places and routes to STICK IN YOUR HEAD if you learn then manually rather than having a device tell you turn by turn..I would recommend the GARMIN BRAND over any other brand because of cost.
and No you do not need any subscription...Just buy it....Add your addresses to it and thats it!

TomTom and Garmins are the best sellers but you will only have an entry level one and it will cost you 150. I have a Mio that I got from radioshack and love it. It was 130 and had a lot more features than the garmins or tomtoms for the same price

For that price you'll have to wait until Black Friday. TomTom is generally the cheapest and it works well. Also consider a good cell phone with GPS navigation built in. The cell phone idea will lower the costs.

For your budget $150, I am suggestion a Garmin nuvi 260 3.5-Inch portable gps navigator, or Garmin nüvi 205W 4.3-Inch widescreen portable gps navigator

For a Garmin choose a model that ends with a "5" is a newer model (old models is end with "0").

I have a Garmin and it's pretty good. But the suction cup doesn't work at all. And the charge goes away pretty quickly sometimes.
