Can you switch to a higher voltage battery and not effect the thing that it is charging.?

So I have an airsoft gun gun. It has a 7.2 volt battery, though I lost the charger. Will a higher volt battery last longer, and will it mess up the thing it is supplying energy to?

You can use a higher V battery to get a higher rate of fire from your gun. There's no 'circuitry' to mess up, just a motor and some gears...

HOWEVER, low quality, low powered guns have 7.2v batteries as standard, using a higher V battery will increase the stresses on the gearbox parts and cause it to fail sooner. Definitely don't use anything higher than an 8.4v.

Whether or not your charger will work depends on it's output (it'll be written somewhere on it). The output V from the charger needs to be equal to or higher than the V of the battery.

You need to stick with the 7.2 volt and a 7.2 volt charger. You can get a battery with a higher current rating which will last longer but the voltage has to be 7.2 or you'll damage the circuitry in the gun.
