If you don't want to use a hair straightener, try using aveda hand straight. Apply it to you hair from scalp to tip and then blow dry.

Works really well and because it's aveda it's all natural.

You can't permanently change your genetics which is what decides whether you have straight or curly hair. Since hair is dead you can change it once it has appeared, but you can't change what the hair will look like before it is there.

There are straightening lotions (basically perm lotion but they don't use curlers) but make sure you go to a reputable salon. If you have any afro/caribbean salons near you, I would recommend you go there as they are experts in relaxing treatments.

Yes, you can get something similar to a reverse perm. One of my friends had it done and cost her about $300 at a local place. It's not even close to a top notch salon, either. It's very expensive and damages your hair like crazy! I would advise investing in a really nice straightener instead.

My mum has her hair chemically straightened once a year. It is a nice thing to do, but is alot of money and maes your hair all wirey if you dont get it done every year. So be careful.
