Statistics wise.... the worst season in NHL history is the 74-75 Washington Capitals. Finished the season with a record of 8-67-5.

Dale M must have a short memory. Habs are 1-1 vs Atlanta this year so it seems they can beat them just not everytime. I think I see a TML logo in is Avatar, I think the Leafs are 1-2 vs Atlanta this year.

As to the question- worst team in NHL history is the 74 -75 Caps as many have mentioned. The worst franchise not including the short lived ones or recent expansion teams as its not fair to base it on a limited life.

I would say that honor goes to the Kings. No championships, missed the playoffs 17 out of 40 seasons, lost in round 1 another 14 times and only made one final while having the best player to play the game in Gretzky and some great players in the 70's including Dionne, Simmer and Taylor

some speedy learn reported the 1974-seventy 5 Washington Capitals. interestingly Jim Anderson (the instructor) may well be in tears after each activity, and that they set the checklist for goals allowed in a season with 446, alongside with maximum highway losses, consecutive highway losses, consecutive losses, and lowest volume of wins by a team enjoying 70 or extra video games. wow. edit- I dunno in case you have been soliciting for worst guy or woman team, or worst franchise. in case you have been searching for franchise, my decision may well be the Columbus Blue Jackets. They weren't a solid team for a protracted time. they may well be solid this twelve months, yet they nonetheless havent made the playoffs, so yeah.

Hartford Whalers. (excluding their recent years as the Carolina Hurricanes).

They were year after year, the worst team in the NHL.

If by worst, you mean inept than it would have to be the Rangers. Lots of money, players gravitate to NY, yet they fail to deliver year after year.

This is a tough one. Just answering off the top of my head, I'm going with the Canucks. I mean, they haven't really had any success in the playoffs ever. Columbus has been pretty terrible in their short existance.

the california golden seals were pretty bad; they lasted one season. the islanders now are pretty awful, and the st. louis blues are(i think) the oldest team without a stanley cup
