Why are scissors and nail clippers referred to as a pair?

Interesting never really thought about pants, that is the same thing, seems like if it were a pair of oants that you could buy just 1, ever seen a store that sells a pant?

probably the same reason pants are referred to as a pair. there are two blades, two pant legs, etc. hope it helps! :]
