how to draw a smooth curve in photoshop?
I've got to draw a really nice smooth wavy curve. I know you can use the pen tool and control points but is this the only way? As this tool needs a bit of practice I'm after just a quick way of doing it without too much fiddling.

The pen tool is not that hard and it is the best tool for drawing a curve.
You could also use the circular (oblong) marquee tool. Just add a stroke to the selection. Once done erase part of the stroke. You should now be left with a curve.
Another way would be to draw a straight line with the pencil tool and distort this with one of the Photoshop filters. (Filter->Distort->Wave)

I agree with "Nick" that there are various methods, but I have to particulary agree that the pen, or "path" tool is the only sure way to place the line EXACTLY where you want it and in exactly the way you want it.
And, the only way to get better at this is with practice. Even freehand artists, working on paper, need to practice the skill before they were able to make a smooth, controled curve.
Seriously, if you don't want to "fiddle" with the tools, then you don't really need to use Photoshop at all.
