I believe that when you're in a coma you're labeled as being in critical or serious condition, so they try to get you to fair condition. Therefore, they may have to stabilize your heart rate, etc.
The one thing that's universal is the being reintroduced to food. They try to encourage you to eat ice cubes because it's been at least a few days since you've had food and your stomach will not like it.
I know for me, I had a hard time walking because of the amount of time. My legs were really shaky and they also measured how much I peed.
