How do I get him to go to the doctor?
My husband wakes up early in the morning or in the middle of the night, hacking and gagging and spitting. This of course wakes me up, which I might add that I work swing, and gets me in a grumpy mood for the rest of the day. Sometimes his ventures to the bathroom to do this, leads to him vomiting. I have suggested him go to a doctor to make sure it's not an ulcer. He says no, its his fault and refuses to go. I know he doesn't have a problem going to a doctor, because he has been off this entire past week going to the chiropractor. I just don't know what to do to get this to stop, I can't continue to be loosing sleep due to him refusing to take care of the situation.
Any suggestions on how to get him to go, or even how to handle it if he continues to refuse?
I have told him how much sleep I am loosing in the meantime but he apologizes and doesn't understand why I can't easily get over it.
He isn't a smoker and he does actually wake up and walk to the bathroom, but I just want to be able to get sleep and not have to sleep in another room. I know he won't sleep in another room and its not fair that I have to be uncomfortable when thats almost as bad as getting woken up early by his issues.

It's hard to make someone do anything that they don't want to do. Have you told him about the lack of sleep that you are getting and how it affects you? I think you should tell him and also tell him that one of you need to sleep in another room until he is better. (smile)

People can be funny sometimes. What do you mean when you say "He says no, it's his fault...?" I don't get that part. But it sounds like he is fearful there is something seriously wrong with him and he is afraid to find out. Is he a smoker? My father used to wake up the entire household coughing and hacking like this, to the point that he couldn't get his breath. Of course, for some reason it never woke him up, but all of us would be wide awake at least once a night. He was a heavy smoker (about 3 packs a day) and developed emphysema.
I would call his chiropractor and ask for his assistance to get him to go.

why you are concerned about you losing sleep? Just take a day off and go the doctor with him.

call the doc and make the appointment yourself and drag his butt with you, or tell him lovingly how much you love him and want him to be around a longtime and see what he says or sleep in another room?? sorry that's all i got good luck!!

Sleep on the couch.

Maybe he's afraid of what the doctor may find.
