Agree or not. Best pitcher ever: Satchel Page Homerun King: Josh Gibson?
Page pitched into his 50's. Gibson, a ***** league catcher is thought to have hit 900 homers.
If your not going to give it to Gibson then at least say the next best obvious choice: Babe Ruth

I wrote and optioned a script about Josh Gibson to HBO (it ended up never being made). I have done a lot of research on Gibson. One of the greatest players of all time without a doubt and we actually sat down and figured out how many home runs he might have hit had he played his whole career in the MLB (we figured just over 500). But 900 home runs is quite an exaggeration. Many of those home runs were hit against semi-pro teams, teams that had players who weren't even minor league worthy. The N egro leagues didn't keep the best records and generally include all those games in their "totals" so there's no real way of knowing how many home runs Gibson hit in his career.
But he was definitely one of the greatest.

Homerun king is Barry Bonds, whether we want to agree with it or not. Although, Josh Gibson had the raw talent of Babe Ruth, his stats were rumored to have been "exaggerated" and "miscalculated". On days he would hit 3 homeruns, they would say 5. Also, there were days where no one could fill in a stat sheet for him. Poor guy. Either way, he's still a legend in the books. You can bring up the name Henry Aaron all you'd like.. the man played plenty more games than Ruth and Bonds. Barry Bonds could very well play another 2-3 years, and continue higher. It's just logic and statistics.
Pitcher: Nolan Ryan. There is no argument about this. I don't know why anyone would disagree or think otherwise.

I'll go along with Satchel Paige. A host of players spoke openly about his abilities.
Not enough information on Mr. Gibson. More documentation is needed

Possibly, but we will never know. Overall competition in any other leagues was just not as good as MLB competition. There is just no way we can know for sure what kind of numbers they could have put up against MLB competition their entire career. No question they were solid but to say they were the best is somewhat of a stretch.

it is been suggested that Josh Gibson hit more beneficial than 900 HR's. it might want to were fantastic if he had performed contained in the significant Leagues. I do believe that he hit extra HR's than Babe Ruth and that i imagine it develop right into a shame that we even dispute that he develop into the properly ideal HR hitter ever.

They never played a 162 or 154 game schedule against qualified Major League ball players, so we will never know.

Stats are just that....stats. Never seen them play so I can't say the best. Since my days of watching started I think the best pitcher was Nolan Ryan and the best hitter probably would go to Rod Carew.

Pitcher: Disagree
Homerun Hitter: I don't know about that one. There really isn't any solid proof. I'd have to say Hank Aaron.
