How can I fix my jammed lock?
Last night the door knob / lock to my front door wouldn't turn, so I tried hard to turn it and it finally gave, but it won't move the deadbolt/deadlatch. I took it off the door to look inside it and it appears it won't turn fully. It just gets stuck part of the way through the turn. What could be the cause of this and is it fixable?

You can buy a new backset but if that wore out the rest of the deadbolt will soon follow. Best thing is to get a new deadbolt.

Give the lock a squirt of graphite powder and give it another go,never use a wet lubricant such as wd40 as it attracts dust and gunk to the lock mechanism which can cause problems. If the lock mechanism is too worn you may have to replace it, but give the graphite a go its cheaper than buying a new lock.

When my locks stuck I sprayed WD-40 inside the keyhole. Then they worked. I know they also make a product to lubricate door locks, just ask at the hardward store.

Use some "Graphite "that is what is made for locks.Liquid. Paste,
Powder but be careful it's tough to get off your hands.
