What kind of art do you like?
Do you own any original works of art? I love Mary Cassatt. But of course can't afford that.

I love most all art.
Do you mean to do or to look at and enjoy?
I own my original art and the art work of my sister and my brother.
I do high fire clay, watercolor and quilling. Right now I'm trying to make a dress out of wire window screen. Not sure how far I'll get on this. Never tried it before.
I enjoy the art of college students too. Some VERY talented kids are out there.

The only original works I own are those done by my daughters. The oldest was an Art/Graphic Design major in college. My youngest is very good also. Both have won awards in Art Shows.
I enjoy most forms of art expression. I like realism and abstract the best. Both of my girls were blessed with an amazing Art teacher while in high school. His classes bring home the best in show practically every year from the County Art Show here.
I do own a couple pieces of Shafer pottery. He was also a product of the school I attended. Most of his work is exclusiviely sold on the West Coast now. He only lives about 15 miles from me and it's a joy to visit his little shop and rekindle great memories.

Yes, we own two original pieces. Both are the products of my hubands'
life long talent. He has been a gifted western artist since I've known him, and
that's been 46 years. He's done several art shows and his work has
been sold from a few art galleries, and to private individuals for their
business offices.
My favorite form of art, is a picture perfect acryllic painting. By
picture perfect, I mean one that can duplicate an actual photograph
in detail and color. And there are few artists that have the patience
and time to spend to get that exact likeness. But I've seen several
in galleries done by non living artists, that were that great.
There was a southwestern artist, who was mainly known to the
people of southwestern states, by the name of Brownell McGrew.
He lived and painted the Navaho, for many years, and duplicated
the colors in the clothes they wore and their jewelry and surround-
ings. He produced some gigantic works that I've seen on display.
And you felt you could walk through those canvases into the
painted world beyond and be part of it. That's how realistic they
are. Most of his works are hanging in private collections or
owned by big corporations who could afford them. He would paint
only a minimal few each year, but the prices he charged, it would
provide a comfortable living for he and his family. I doubt if any
of his work remains for sale, since he died nearly 20 years ago. If
you ever get the chance to view his work, you will remember it
always. For they are so brightly vibrant, and the people so real,
you want to reach out and touch the images, to see if indeed they
are real. He painted in acryllics, and you can tell the difference from
a standard oil painting. There is a dimension you can both see and
feel. And it's a moving experience.

Well as an art teacher I like all kinds of art. I do have a special feeling for the impressionist too. The only art I can afford is my own. I think I have rather eclectic tastes.

Anything realistic. I'm not a fan of modern art. I have some paintings my late aunt, Frances Barr, did. She was never famous, but sold enough during her lifetime.
If you ever have art fairs or exhibitions in your area, it's a good place to buy art at a reasonable price, and who knows, if the artist becomes famous, they might be worth something someday.

I don't have a specific type of art that I like; there are pieces I love and other pieces that I don't like as much from most forms of art. I enjoy visiting art museums, galleries, and studios.
One place I visit every time I go to Washington DC is the "National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden". http://www.nga.gov/feature/sculpturegarden/general...
I love Mary Cassatt's work too! And also Degas...:) I'm also a VanGogh fan; love Sunflowers and Starry Night. I had a print of "The Scream" by Munch hanging near my desk for years,
I love water colors, pencil, and pen and ink drawings.
Dale Chihuly's glass work is awesome!
Folk art, metal work, block printing, fabric art, pottery, photography...... there are things about each that I like.
My husband and I have several limited edition prints. We have 3 watercolors, one small acrylic painting, a chalk drawing, a pencil drawing, and several photographs hanging on our walls (one done my our daughter, she won an award for it). We have 3 pieces of pottery done by a friend who is a professional potter. We have two 'folk art' paintings-one done on a board and one on an old orange crate. We can't afford work from well known artists; but we do enjoy finding gems from lesser know artists....and we do check out local estate and garage sales once in awhile.

I like all kinds of art - oils, acrylic, watercolour paintings; pottery, china painting; drawings of any media and sculpture but not great big daubs of paint splashed on a canvas.
I love colour. I like landscapes, seascapes and still life. I like primitive art and Renaissance paintings - pretty broad...
We own several original works of art only two of them are from artists not in my family/extended family. We have art work in every room of the house except the 2nd toilet.
Sorry I don't know who Mary Cassatt is though.

I'm a fan of all art that is an expression of reality. I have no time for abstract, colour field, new realism etc. Painting a canvas red or filling a skip full of popcorn is not art IMO.

I like all kinds of art that I can recognize as something from the real world

Yes some.I collect English Fox Hunting scenes and anything old relating to livestock especially the unlikely "squared" prize winning cattle, sheep and pigs of the 18th century by various artists.Prints of this type are usually snapped up from galleries here in the Cotswold's, but a couple of years ago I visited a shop in Canary Wharf London and thought it was my birthday as Londoners obviously have different tastes and I came away with several old prints of pigeons and poultry.Good question.
