There is sooooo much to do in Toronto in the summer and a car is definitely NOT needed. Best thing to do is plan on seeing some the "must see" places like the CN Tower, ROM, Art Gallery of Ontario etc. If you're into theme parks, Canada's Wonderland is world class and can be reached by using public transit. There are so many great bars and nightclubs downtown, also a lot of world class restaurants. Toronto can be broken down into many smaller neighbourhoods ... there's the downtown core (where you'll probably find a hotel, but it will not be cheap) ... here are some of the others that are worth visiting

    1. Yonge/Eglinton

    2. Yorkville (This is where you might find a celeb or two)

    3. Greektown

    4. Little Italy

    5. China town

If you like shopping malls, two are standouts, the Eaton Centre and Yorkdale ... Yorkdale is in the burbs, but can be reached with the subway.

We also have a lot of plays and a lot of stand up comedy.

Check out Toronto.com, it's a pretty good site and will give you a flavour for the city. Also, don't forget to check out www.ticketmaster.ca for concerts in the city ... there's always killer concerts here every summer .. all the big names make their way around. The best place to see a concert is the Molson Amphitheatre. Nice outdoor venue.

    Have fun.

Hi Sim B: There are a lot of really great things to do in Toronto. If you want an amazing view of the city and a perfect place to watch the sun go down, go to Toronto Island on the ferry or the top of the CN Tower. Toronto is made up of many different little communities each with its own atmosphere. Each of these little 'villages' has food, shopping, etc. It can be hot and humid in July so dress in layers. The Art Gallery of Ontario, the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) and lots of other venues are interesting but it depend upon what you like. The subway system is good as are the buses and trolleys so you can go almost anywhere quite reasonably. If you are interested in art, artsy shops, cool restaurants and a great setting used for lots of movies, walk from Yonge Street to the Distilery. You'll see a braod spectrum of Toronto. The shops of Yorkville near Yonge and Bloor are the upper end. Explore...it's great! All the best, Shari

Honestly, besides New York, Toronto has more things than any other city in the world to do. Toronto is really diverse so it depends on you. There has never been nothing that I have ever wanted or can even think of that you can't get or do in toronto besides surfing maybe. We even have indoor beach volleyball and an artifical beach.

Taxi isn't a bad thing to take in Toronto the buses aren't great but the subway is good.

I wish I could be more helpful, but i think like a 20 year old, so i don't what would intrest a aparent to do with kids. But anything you want to do you can find.

Captain C had some great answers. I agree wholeheartedly.

In terms of hotels, downtown will always be not-cheap. Try to find something on the fringes of downtown... there are some great deals on www.expedia.ca, yahoo.ca....and other travel sites. Since our economy has done a downturn, they are giving great deals to get tourists to come in.

In the summer, you might want to also visit our great markets...like St. Lawrence Market, which is in downtown. My personal fav store to visit is called Timbuktu, which is near Yonge St and Richmond St. They have all these cute international type things... saris, jewellery, furniture, incense, beads.... it's worth a look.

Yuk Yuk comedy club is great...on Richmond St as well. Queen St is great to walk around and visit little shoppes, go into Much Music Headquarters... you might see a star!

There are Blue Jays baseball games at the Rogers Centre as well...

    Enjoy!

Do not miss the glass floor in the CN Tower! At one time this was the tallest structure on the planet and when you go to the top, they have a small section that is a glass floor. It is insane!!

You don't need a car, just get one of those little carts with two wheels that is pulled around by a college kid.....what do they call those things......they're in Korea too....Hmmmm.....a....ric-shaw! Yea, that's it!
