Why does everyone think my Canadian accent is so hilarious?

It's all aboot what you're accustomed to hearing. Being from the northeast, it's not very often I hear a "southern" accent in my daily life. The Fayetteville-southern accent would certainly put a semi-bemused smile on face just because of it's unfamiliarity. Just the same as my Philadelphia accent and phraseology always amused my coworkers when I lived in Cincinnati. It's really no big deal when you get down to it.

chances are people find your accent hilarious because.... you sound funny.

some people just have funny sounding accents.

and maybe you have a combination of accents which might make it sounded a little stranger than the norm. If you speak another language often, you might pick up that accent and combine it with some other.

Not all canadians have accents and not all canadians play hockey nor does it snow all the time. I have no clue because an accent is an accent.

I don't think Canadians have accents . . . but why does everyone pick on my Michigan accent, eh?
