Yankees sign Pettitte - good move?
The Yankees have just announced that they signed Pettitte to a one year deal.
Do you think this is a good move for the organization or should they have gone with someone else (either from within the organization or on the free market?)

CC = beast AJ- nonetheless super time well being concers as consistently yet must be phenominal Wang- above regular, very servicable Pettite- would finally end up being the terrific signing of the offseason! Watch! Hughes- wont make contributions in 2009, possibly late 09 if mo riveria gets injury and joba has to close yet i think of joba will initiate and be great! Griffey could be a good sign if he'd bypass there to be a place participant, what a great effect he must be on a guy like Melky Cabrera or Brett Gardner

I think it is a good move. It adds a great veteran presence and a great competitive, helpful guy in the clubhouse. It gives them extra depth and less pressure on young guys like Joba, Hughes, and Aceves. They had a nice rotation before, but if one guy went down, it got pretty weak. The Yankees also have a bit of a problem when they are preparing to say goodbye to a great player, and it is nice to see them getting it right, assuming Pettitte retires after the season.

I think it's a great move. Signing him to a short term contract to save some money to pay everyone other than Sabathia, Burnett, and Teixeira. Now they have a full rotation- CC Sabathia (17-10) Chien-Ming Wang (8-2 in 15 starts) AJ Burnett (18-10) Joba Chamberlain (4-3 in 12 starts) and Andy Pettite (14-14)
best rotation in MLB? possibly.

Good Move. There was a question on the starting rotation. As with pitching tendancy's, someone will probably get injured and having Hughes or Aceves ready to spot start will be good. I think it gives another year for the transition of one of the young guys to take over next year.

This is one of the first intelligent offseason moves by the Yankees. (The other was signing Tex). I've been ripping them all offseason for their lackluster starting pitching lineup, but this shores that up very well.
Pettite can pitch in New York, and pitch well. He's a workhorse that eats up innings, and gives the Yankees a shot at winning every time he's on the mound. He's good for 15-18 wins every year, and that's worth every penny they give him. He'll be there to pick up the slack when CC and AJ fail. (And trust me at least one of them is going to bust, if not both. My money is on AJ. 8 wins, if he's lucky)

Yes, I think this is a good move for them because, he is a key part to the pitching rotation and his veteran-ship will help lead the Yankees.

Its a good move. He's pitched in NY so he's acclimated. They don't need to push him like last year so perhaps they can keep him a bit rested; if they avoid injuries as a whole in their staff.

I'm not real happy. Hes taking up a rotation spot that could be going to a kid this season.
