Divorce! Once final, why can the husband continue?
to be allowed to enter his former home and continue to "search" for items that he may have forgotten? A final decree and a list was given to the court and he initially took the things on the list, now he's saying there are more items he forgot; how do you end the nonsense?
His lawyer went to the court and they're allowing him 2 hours to search with sheriffs in attendance-he has to pay for the lawyer, sheriffs-this is in Connecticut and I just don't understand-I thought it was over and he is again being allowed to "look"...I don't understand-

if the police are with him and supervising him... let him in if the law says he can.
if only he wants to come in and no judge says its okay then don't let him in..

I would change the locks and tell him from now on he has no business and no permission to be in the house. If he continues you can get a restraining order against him but I would be careful not to blow it out of proportion. Is it really something that warrants getting ugly? If they are legitimate items that really belong to him why be difficult about it? Tell him to make a list and mail it to you and you will get the things together and let him know when he can pick them up. Then I would make it clear that this game is not going to continue unending. It's over and he needs to deal with it and you don't owe him anything else. Good luck.
update: I would suggest talking to your lawyer and finding out what your rights are. How do they know if it's really his stuff or if he's helping himself to things that are yours? Why should you have to be there to make sure he isn't just cleaning house.

Change the locks and get a restraining order.
OR ask him what he wants and post the item to him.
He has no rights to enter the house.
