Why are plasmids found in some organisms and not others?

If plasmids are beneficial to cells, why dont all cells have them?

    1.) there is no advantage to this organism to carry it. even a strain that carrys a plasmid will let of that plasmid as soon as it doesnt need. it costs the cell enerrgy and makes them grow slower so there has to be a huge advantge to carry it

    2.) there may be no plasmids around where the organism is located. some organisms are in the ocean or under a rock, or where there are no plamids found

    3.) it may be impossible for an organism to take it up .... there may be viruses or proteins that destroy it instantly
