    Jimmy Page

    He was technically more proficient

    He wrote more successful songs

He still holds the #1 guitar solo of all time almost forty years later for "Stairway."

His resume also includes The Yardbirds, Coverdale/Page, and Soundtrack work.

Jimmy Page is an excellent guitarist, but there's a reason they named Jimi Hendrix as #1 on Rolling Stone's list of greatest guitarists, and I think that besides being musically gifted, he went the extra mile and put on a good show. I mean, he played BEHIND HIS BACK and WITH HIS TEETH!!!!

And did you know that he was actually a really shy person?

Not a fair question. Hendrix has been dead since 1970. Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff beck, and probably a number of other players, could make a claim at being "better." We have no idea how good Hendrix could have been, nor what direction he would have headed (although he was distinctly moving towards jazz work in the months before he passed).

It would be "fairer" to compare the living guys, and even that would be a matter of preference and opinion.

    Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix was so innovative and creative, no one can ever recreate the sounds he could make with his guitar. He was not musically educated either. He just played with his soul, with no boundaries of all of those technical music things.

Jimmy Page was/is a great guitarist, but he didn't play the creative riffs and solo fills anything like Jimi could. And yes, Page was more technically skilled, but that's just the thing-he was not as creative and innovative.

    Jimi Hendrix.

Page is good, but nowhere close to Hendrix. The guy did so much for the guitar world in such a short time, and he was lightyears ahead of everyone at the time.

Page definitely had better technicallity but Hendrix was much better to the point that he didn't have to look at his guitar while playing and the way he wrote was also a little better than the way page did, although everyone still loves Stairway to Heaven

    No contest.

Page was once quoted as saying he felt like giving up the guitar the first time he saw Hendrix, as he could never be that good.
