10 AnswersRock and Pop8 years agoWho is your favorite musician who never had a solo project?
A lot of the greatest musicians are so good that they are able to have a successful solo career. Who is our favorite musician that never had that?
I really liked Randy Rhoads (of early Quiet Riot and Ozzy Osbourne). I think I read once that he was planning on releasing a more Classically-influenced solo record, but unfortunately he passed before he was able to release anything of the sort. What a guy.

Tosin Abasi (of Animals as Leaders and T.R.A.M.) also comes to mind. My favorite thing about him is that he isn't full of himself like a lot of virtuoso guitarists. He could have very easily become like every other shred guitarist who has an average bassist and drummer. For example, if you see Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, or another similar guitarist, it's pretty much a one-man show and the other band members don't dare step on the guitarist's lines. But Tosin Abasi found instrumentalists on par with his ability and plays in a band that features all members. It makes it so much more interesting to listen to, it's so good.

2 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoWhat was a time when you were really surprised by a band's live show?
I went to a concert to see a bunch of cool bands, some were math rock. One of these math rock bands was called Two Knights. I listened to their music and I was not that intrigued or impressed.
But when they started their set, there were only two people. That always makes it more interesting. The next thing I know, their guitarist is playing some of the most intricate tapping parts I've seen, while at the same time singing. The drummer had everything laid down perfectly to fill the spaces. It was so impressive, I looked at this random dude next to me and we were both amazed, our jaws were wide open haha.
This is the band I'm referring to, check them out!
Here's him tapping and singing at the same time:

and here's a studio version of an awesome song of theirs called "D4: What the Puck?"

5 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoI want to hear some chaos. What are the most chaotic bands you know?
What chaotic bands do you know? There are a lot of genres that you could call "chaotic" (math rock, glitch music, hardcore punk, etc.). Show me some!
Here's perhaps the most chaotic band I know. They're called Sajjanu and they're from Japan. Their music is made with a drummer and two guitarists:

lodsb makes electronic music that is way chaotic sounding. Close your eyes and let your mind paint a picture, man:

I think I like their second EP, 'I Never Said That I Was Brave' (2001). The rawness of their first EP is a bit much for me, but this second EP tones it enough. It sounds a lot like '[A→B] Life'. I really like that raw post-hardcore sound from them.
