    Bible reference: Matthew 16:18.

That's where Jesus made Peter the head of the Church. (The name Peter means 'rock.') Later, the term "Pope" was applied to this position, and the Church got the descriptive term "Catholic," which means universal.

Every pope since then can be traced in a direct line back to St. Peter and Jesus.

Hi and you will never realize how little you knew about Christ and how wrong the Fundies are.How do i know i once was as they are and once i started searching GOD led me to his Church the Catholic Church. I studied with Jehovah's Witnesses, seventh day Adventist and Lutherans.I was so hell bent in believing that being Catholic was wrong that i eventually joined the Episcopal Church and was Baptized and confirmed in it.Even tho they were not as anti Catholic as the others i still needed to know why they all hated her and if all they said about the Catholic Church was true.Well i read the Anti nicene fathers writings and searched other sources and came to realize it is the Catholic Church that Christ founded and yes there have been bad people in her and still are but also much of what people like CJ and others say are either totally false or exaggerations.Christ never said the world would love her and it sure does not.ST.Paul also says that in the latter days GOD will send a delusion and there would be a falling a way from the Faith and that all happened in the 16th century with the Protestant reformation.I'm surprised Father joseph has not answered you yet as he was a Protestant Minister and became Catholic. All i can say is go into a Catholic Church and Pray and GOD will show you the way and check out Catholicscomehome.org.........RichardATF is not your Pictures of Christ a Image i can challenge every one of your Adventist programed false statements against the Catholic Church if need be...

I converted to Catholicism 12 years ago. I was raised Methodist, attended a Baptist school and a Seventh Day Adventist school, I belonged to a non-denominational charismatic youth group, and attended an Episcopal Church for a while. I can tell you that Catholicism is the true Church started by Christ.

No offense to any catholics but the reason why so many ppl beleive that it is "Messed up" is because 1st of all look up the history of the Catholic Church and learn and 2nd........

    1. It states Jesus is GOD not true because jesus was a messanger of god not God himself he's a human not the almighty creator

Jesus himself knew he wasn't God because if he was life would be completely asnwered and science along wiht all the other religions wouldnt bother to exist.........

Ask yourself what is the Definition of God my friend???

    2. It completely goes against the 3 true religions Jewdaism, Christinaty, and Islam

    3. It also has nothing to do with religious history what so ever making Abraham, Moses, Mohamed look like nothing

    4. If you want to really find your true beleifs and religion try reading all the holy books Torah of Jewdaism, Bible of Christianity, Qu'ran of Islam the last one then you will find the truth in one of does there no harm in trying so dont be lazy my friend learn your religions b4 choosing one

My religion by the way is one of those 3 some

Maybe... But sometimes if I'm feeling super stubborn and have already argued that I'm right before I realize I'm wrong, I may not admit it.

Being Roman catholic is not messed up. Jesus Christ started this religion before He rose into Heaven. Some people don't like it because it is too strict. But God means for us to work for Heaven. He wants us to choose Him not evil. People started other religions because they didn't want to follow his rules. For example: Manditory Sunday Mass, No Divorce, No Birth control, Going to confession to confess your sins. Being baptised to get into Heaven. NO ABORTIONS! And so on.

No The Roman Catholic Religion is not for wimps. I hope you find a good priest to help you with your questions. God Bless

Catholicism is messed up ... mainly because of the people who govern the Church, and those who belong to it.

It's just a lot less messed up than every other religion on the face of the earth.

You can't do any better than that, this side of Heaven. Jesus has already guaranteed it.

There isn't any Biblical references. It's up to you and your thoughts, feelings and faith. I'm Catholic. Born to a Catholic family, went to Catholic school.... Left the church for 15 yrs (rebel) and came back 6 yrs ago. I still have questions, read the BIble, attend studies, read other reference books, talk to my priest, pray, etc. Not all of my questions will be answered, at least to my expectations. I will always wonder "what if...". I figure God is strong enough to handle my questions, doubts, and sins. I will never leave the Catholic teachings nor my faith. Sometimes I feel strong in my faith, sometimes I'm weak. That's part of human nature, I guess.

What I'm trying to say is, go with your heart and mind and soul. If you want to learn about the Catholic Church, talk to a priest and see what he has to say. You can go to Mass without receiving Communion just to become more familiar with it. Attend a Bible study group. Pray about it. If you hearing God calling you to the Church, then join.

    Good luck and God bless!

Catholic Church Teaches- Mary was a virgin even after marrying Joseph.

God's Word says Jesus had brothers and sisters, Matthew 12:46 "While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him."

Gods Word says Jesus was Mary's FIRSTBORN son, Matthew 1:25 "And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS."

Gods Word says that Joseph "knew her not" until she brought forth her "Firstborn son". Matthew 1:25 "Knew her not" means to be with Mary intimately.

If God wanted Mary to remain a virgin after the miracle of Jesus' birth He would not have suffered Mary and Joseph to marry. Mary wouldn't have married at all if that was God's plan.

Matthew 13:55-56 is clear, Jesus had brothers and sisters. His brothers are even named in the Bible!

Catholicism teaches Purgatory is a place where you go when you die to pay for or suffer for some of your sins but not only is Purgatory not mentioned anywhere in the Bible but if you believe in it you would be denying the debt Jesus paid for you on the cross. If you add anything to what Christ did for you then you are not relying on Him and Him alone. Christ said on the cross, "It is finished", He paid the full price for us. The Catholic Church teaches that you can only go to heaven THROUGH them! That's not what their Bible says!

God's Holy Word clearly teaches that salvation is through Christ alone. If you state that you go to heaven by trusting Christ alone you are put out of the Catholic Church.

Catholicism teaches that Peter is the Rock of the Church, not so, Peter himself taught that Jesus is the Rock and that there is no salvation in any other! Here it is, Acts 4:8-12 "Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, [even] by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

Peter was a poor fisherman, he never wore silk garments or hats and robes as you see in the Catholic church. There is nowhere in the Bible to prove otherwise. Actually the Bible teaches against men wearing hats or having their head covered when praying! The Pope, Bishops, etc. in the Catholic church pray with their heads covered often but here's what God's word says, 1 Corinthians 11:4 "Every man praying or prophesying, having [his] head covered, dishonoureth his head."

The Catholic church (and others), have statues and pictures that depict a person they call Jesus with long hair. Jesus didn't have long hair as it was a disgrace for a man to have long hair. 1 Corinthians 11:14 "Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?" And we are forbidden to make any images that we call God.

There is so much more I could share with you as you are seeking. You wanted Biblical reference, I provided it here. Eternity is a serious matter, don't trust in a Church, trust Christ. The Catholic Church contradicts their own bible. It seems that should be enough to decide. The last thing I should share is that every week the Catholic church is causing millions to blaspheme God on their alters. They teach that the little wafer they pass out at their "Mass" is really Christ's body, this is totally false. They call it "Transubstination". Christ taught this symbolically, the wafer is not really flesh, it doesn't taste like flesh, it doesn't feel like flesh. it doesn't look like flesh. It is not Christ's flesh but every week the priest leads the people to say "Amen" which means I AGREE after he says as a question, "Body of Christ?" The person then takes the little wafer and agrees it is Christ, that is blasphemy.

When Jesus said I am the door and no one enters in but through Him was He really a door? Of course not. When he said "I am the light", was He really a light? Of course not. He simply meant symbolicly that He is the way to Heaven and He is! If the Catholic Church teaches against their own bible how can anyone trust any of their teachings when eternity is at stake? I pray God will bless you with understanding and peace to know the truth.
