Is a 64-bit Windows XP the same as the 32-bit XP?

I use the 32-bit Windows XP Professional, is it the same as the 64-bit? What is the difference between those two?? I know that the 64-bit lets you see all 4 GB of Ram, while the 32-bit wont show all the Ram...

    Hi,

No they are very different, a 32 bit processor uses 32 bit computation and obviously the 64 bit uses 64 bit computation.

There are other differences as you mention, 32 can only access about 2.5gig ram while 64 bit can go much further.

For all you wanted to know about 32 bit :-

    For 64 :-

No a 64 bit system is twice as fast as a 32 bit system at the same GHz.

    In other words,

If you have a 3GB processor, your processor will cycle data at a rate of 3,000,000 (three million) times a second.

A 32 bit computer can move 32 1's or 0's during each cycle, meaning a 3 GHz computer in a 32 bit motherboard could move

    96,000,000 1's or 0's a second.

A 64 bit motherboard would move 64 1's or 0's per cycle, instead of 32.

The big advantage is that programs can be written in such a way that they can run faster using the extra 32 bits of the system.

xp 64 it is a entirely different creature than 32bit Xp.

Essentially, XP 64 code is based on the same code found in X64 Windows 2003 SERVER edition, and is not based on the 32 bit version of XP at all. This makes it a much more stable software that can take advantage of more RAM, runs more stable, has more compatiblity issues with some older games, runs different service packs (Windows Server 2003 SP1 is the code tree segment on which all Windows x64 editions are based. Therefore, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition does not require Windows XP SP2.) and is in general a very different OS even though it is named the same.

Normal use such as web surfing will show no advantages, whereas graphics processing and video processing will go much faster. (Google "32 bit vs. 64 bit) Your hardware and software would BOTH have to be 64 bit, in other words, your computer would need to have a 64 bit processor (check your owner's manual) and your version of windows, in this case, or be it linux, whatever your flavor of software, would have to be 64 bit as well. 32 bit editions usually top out at about 3GB, if you're using more than than that, you need to upgrade to 64 bit. Know one thing though, not alot of 64 bit apps out there, keep that in mind. Any other questions?

No 64-bit windows uses 64-bit instructions and needs 64-bit hardware. Bigger floating point calculations, you can address more RAM, and more calculations can get done per x cycles.

sure and that's ordinary to do i anticipate you may deploy abode windows xp once you put in abode windows put in your ubuntu cd and pass to setting up after questions approximately a while-zone and keyboard format comes partitioning use instruction manual partitioning resize your partitions untill you have a minimum of 5 or 6 GB (this does not require erasing records ) make an ext3 partition with mount factor / on a 5 GB (you additionally could make it extra in case you had to ) and that's going to be the ubuntu partition and a million GB exchange partition (exchange works in a matching way digital reminiscence of xp works yet swifter using fact that's not fragmented area ) and in case you probably did not intend to make exchange (considering which you have 4 GB of ram ) that's positive proceed and wait numerous minutes (that's going to ask you for username and password) then get excitement from your ubuntu
