Should congress pass a bill to forbid bonuses to CEOs and Executives?

of companies receiving federal bailout money? There is such a bill pending in the Senate right now. Should we write our Senators and Representatives to support such an effort? Or do the companies really have a point when they say they need those bonuses to keep qualified employees?

Should they get a bonus? NO!

In fact, if the reason they need government help is because they made bad decisions then they should be removed from the position.

Yes, unless they are based on profit generated by that particular individual.

They should forgo that when there is a negative balance sheet.

Or like you said, when using bailout money.

I am sure they have plenty of qualified currently unemployed people that would work for a CEO or Exec. salary no bonus.

The retention bonuses are a bunch of baloney.

  • Yes and you should also start petitioning the SEC to change rules of executive compensation packages. http://www.sec.gov/contact.shtml

It is quite ridiculous and getting extremely old hearing about their vacation packages and bonuses. These companies should be boycotted and picketed. Too bad I live so far from NYC or I'd go there myself.
