replacing my 10 bolt for a 14 bolt ?
would it be cheaper to just replace my rear end or to just rebuild my 10 bolt. i want higher gears then what it has now (2.73) i would like 4.56 but could live with 4.11 i have a lifted gmc jimmy with 38's dana 44 in front w/ 208 and a 700r4

If you're looking to put stronger parts on the back of your truck, I'd think it would be a financial wash-out. The rebuild of your 10 bolt will require strengthened axles and differential hardware to match what your thinking of replacing it with. Add to that the specialized skills (if you have those skills - God bless you! ) needed to properly set a rear, and you're likely talking about the same price either way.
