Would you consider cutting down on animal products?
I think that Americans in general eat too much meat and neglect their other food groups, and that it is a contributing factor to the obesity epidemic. I also know that more food could be grown more efficiently if less land needed to be used for livestock. I don't want people to go vegetarian or vegan if they don't believe it's the right thing for them to do.
So, since you wouldn't have to give up your steak and you wouldn't need to eat a bunch of tofu and beans, would you cut down on animal products if someone you cared about asked you to?
*I'm not trying to get you to do anything, I'm just curious*
Hi, thanks, don't be a jerk. This is where they suggested I put the question and I'm asking because I have talked to some of my friends about cutting down on meat consumption.
Why would I put it in hunting? It has nothing to do with hunting. Go play somewhere else.
Thank you for the serious answers, guys.

well.. ive been vegan for a month (today! yayy) lol and i think cutting down is a good idea.. but cutting out is a better one. i dont think people realize how easy it is to not eat animals and animal products. taste buds change after 3 weeks, so by just cutting down.. i dont think people will stick with it. i think its important to educate people on why contributing to the use of animals is wrong and why its easy to exclude animals and animal byproducts from life.. (and you dont need to eat tofu to be vegan.. and beans arent necessary, but they are a good idea and can be made in many variations for those who dont like beans)
oh, and i would like to clarify that i think americans consume too much animal products in general.. not just meat. dairy, eggs, and animal products are a huge part of the cruelty going on.
and not only is land being used for live stock, but earth is being polluted and destroyed hugely in part by the production of animal products. and the production of animal products and byproducts is the number one waster of water and energy.
k, hope i explained by ideas well and i hope i didnt sound like i was arguing with you, just sharing my opinion.
ps. try reposting in the general foods and drinks category, that might give you a few less biased answers

I totally agree with you, but I'll admit my answer is a little biased since I decided to cut down on animal products (which worked for me less than a year), then cut out animal products completely quite a while ago.
I really think you will get more of a variety of answers if you ask this under the more general "food & drink" category.

Being a carnivore myself I have to say first that no, I would not stop using animal products. Also, I am not overweight but at the time that I used to eat mainly beans and rice I ballooned up to 150 pounds. Being 5 feet tall and 150 pounds makes for a pretty round person. Once I started back with my old diet I went back down to a borderline 120 pounds. Everyone is different though.

Well, I'm a vegan so of course, but if I was still a meat eater, I'd research it before just doing what they said.
I know that humans are intelligent and advanced enough to thrive on a vegan diet (which has been recognized as the most healthy by professional nutritionists), and I just can't justify to myself the feeling of knowing someone had died for my meal.

Why would I want to do that? If people stopped eating farm animals like cows and pigs and sheep they would lose all their value and then there would be no reason to keep them around and they would probably become extinct like a lot of other animals without any monetary value have become. The best way to protect a species is to make it worth something to people. That way they will always want them around and take care of them and breed them and they will never go extinct.

NO, i would not. And you are ranting, consider yourself reported.
If you actually had some balls you would post this in the hunting section. Most of the people here are already vegetarian anyways.

No I would not.
