is it possible to play video games on a conventional blu ray player? if so, how?

specifcally the Panasonic DMP-BD30K. Do I need to buy additional hardware, like joysticks or so??

    No, unless some company decides to make a game specifically using a Blu-ray player.

    Impossible. Most games are on HD DVDs, and there are no controller ports for a Blu-ray player.

    no you cant...and no, not most games are on HD DVDs. only xbox. HD DVDs are useless and obsolete. ps3 has blu ray game discs but you cant play them on a dvd player...
