Laptop issue, weird grinding if tilted?

I'm about irritated with this, and i've learned that online support is ****, even with Dell.

I went online one day, and all of a sudden my computer started to grind on the left side. Like my fan was whirling out of control, I don't know what the heck it was. I spoke to Dell about it and they said it was because my BIOS wasn't updated..

OK! I did this and I'm still getting the issue. For the past few days i've realised what the issue and how it's starting. If my laptop gets tilted from, unleveled sometimes on the left side of it started going crazy. It's grinds and sounds like something is spinning out of control in here.

sadly this makes me pissed off. I asked dell over and over again if it's a problem inside that I need it taken care of asap because my warrenty is about to expire. Well guess what? It's done expiered and the issue is still happening. Now because Dell's online support is complete ****, I now have to pay for the damn problem.

Thanks Dell, your a great frickin help :)

Any ideas what this might be? I'm suspecting something might be out of line..I mean the laptop is just over a year old, and yeah it's used a lot but I mean come on. Anyways..sorry for the half rant this is just irritating and I feel to be the only person with this issue since I couldn't find jack all online.

Update:

So it's something wrong inside the laptop. Figured. I looked up on my thing, my warrenty doesn't seem to expire till the 7th, so I have a few days. So now i'm contacting dell about this.

Cd drive, hard drive, and fans are the onlything that spins. ?BIOS? what was he talking about. it's a chip. oh and it's ok to say it, "Dell is bull ****".

You should call ur local computer repair shops and ask if they do free consultations. I went to a shop where they looked at my laptop for free to see what the problem was and they gave me an estimate of the costs. From the sound of it looks like either the fan or hard drive has some how become loose causing that grinding noise. i've no idea what the hell Dell was saying about the BIOS update i mean i know what it is but a little software update isn't gonna help an internal physical problem. Sorry about ur frustration i've been there. Anyways i hope you find a shop that can help u :)

Something is interfering with your fan. Save or back up all of your data (always a good idea to do this when you are going to tinker with your computer). Take a can of compressed air and blow out the vents by the fan. Do it gently and in one direction (presumably out or toward the side of the computer). You can also try using something like a clean, unused paint brush to brush out the fan vents. Troubleshoot the fan by turning the computer on, lift it up and tilt and see if it grinds. The issue is that your fan has probably become off kilter for whatever reason (dust, loose connection, etc.). You could take a crack at it yourself or take it to a computer repair place and ask them to take a look. It may ultimately need to be replaced, so, be prepared for that. Good luck.

I had a desktop that started to make a weird grinding sort of sound. But it had completely blacked out by the time it started doing that. Apparently the arm that reads the hard drive had busted and every time it swung out to read the hard drive, it would just scratch the holy hell out of it.

    What model number is it?

I would suspect a fan blade possibly rubbing a wire internally, or touching something else it shouldn't in there.

Sometimes on the bottom, there is one single screw you can remove to allow you to pull your cd or dvd rom drive out. That could help isolate the problem if it stops after removing it.

It can either be the hard drive or the cooling fan. I'd put my money on the cooling fan which isn't expensive to replace, and should be done as you need your lappy to keep it's cool..
