Potty Training Question?
My son is almost 22 months. I am struggling with starting to potty train him. We have been traveling a lot lately due to a family illness and was wanting to wait until after my last trip which will be in February He seems a bit interested in the toilet as far as watching dad and likes to flush. I just thought since we were traveling back and forth so much that we should wait until we are going to be home. I was wondering what other moms thought. Also would like to know what other moms thought would be better....training pants or regular undies with the plastic pants?

Curiousity is definately a good thing! and yes you should wait til your done with the traveling to get him into full on potty training however, it will take time so putting a little time aside to sit in the on potty to get used to it would be just fine, and highly recomended.
I suggest using the new pampers pull ups that get cold when the child wets them, the feel helps them realize when they are going "potty" and etc.
Definately let him expereience with the potty and when you are home and settled set him on the potty frequently and within 10 - 15 minutes after eating and drinking.
Also positive reinforcement! stickers - charts anything!! :) Good Luck!!

22 months is still pretty young for potty training. Few kids are ready/able before they are 2.
So I would definitely wait until at LEAST after the end of this month. And then, if you try and he isn't interested or ready (potty training goes quickly when a child IS ready,so don't think you will need to be at it for many months/years), then just go back to diapers. "Watching you flush" isn't really a sign of readiness.
I would recommend naked training. Let him just run around bare for a few days. If he IS ready, he'll catch on pretty quickly, and you can then go to regular undies, though he'll certainly have the occassional accident.

i have a 20 month old and is fully trained.once your child is 18 months and is showing signs of readyness thats the best time to start. my 9 year old was potty trained by 17 months she learned much quicker ,each child is different. i use pull ups only for night time and outings for just in case. but i prefered undies because baby will hate feeling wet when they have there accidents and tend to catch on qiucker. the sooner the better.and its best to wait til your done with all the moving around too. youll have more time to focus on the whole potty training business and it will be less stressful on both of you. good luck and the trick is once you start dont go back to diapes no matter how frustrating at times . pull ups do feel to much like diapers so use them wisely. just stick to it. and give lots of praise and dont forget those stickers as a reward for going potty.

well my twins are going to be 2 in a few weeks, they have shown signs of being interested in using the potty, they sit in theyre play kitchen sink pull their pants down and pretend to go to the bathroom then pretend to flush it, its pretty funny. but my mom told me to buy a kiddie potty so they get used to the feel of it, and every so often tell them oh its potty time and take them to the potty and let them pretend, and when they are ready they'll make the leap.
im trying to potty train mine to but ive just decided to wait it out until their speech gets a little better and since we travel plenty also it is easier for us if they just go in their diapers while we are driving across country & we can just stop every so often to change them.
i preferably like the pull ups that you can rip at the sides to take off, i think it makes them feel a bit more comfortable, my kinds wouldnt wear the underwear cause i guess it was tighter on them, i dont know.
if i were you, i would wait until the travel slows down, traveling from place to place and using different potties is hard for the young ones, some of them like the security of their own home, like my husband the anti-public bathroom guy, haha.
best of luck to you!

ONE THING I TRIED WITH MY SON IS SING A POTTY SONG OR TAKING HIM TO THE BATHROOM WHEN YOU GO ANOTHER THING BUY HIM A DOLL OR TEDDY BEAR THE SIZE OF HIM AND SITTING IT ON THE POT THEN HE WILL START TO DO THE SAME WHEN HE SEE SOMEONE OR THING DO THE SAME KIDS DO WHAT THEY SEE
