Was the state of Washington involved in the Civil War?

This is for school, and I need to know if Washington was involved (not the person, the state). If it was, which side was it on?

Nope. There was no state of Washington at the time of the Civil War. The state of Washington wasn't admitted into the union until November 11, 1889. The Civil War took place 1861–1865.

Well, given the fact that most of the states involved were Southern and Northeastern states, I'd have to say no. Washington State is in the Pacific Northwest and didn't become a state until 1889, about 24 years after the end of the Civil War.

No, they couldn't because they were not entered into the union as a state at that time yet.
