I have decided to try and get pregnant with POCS?

iv heard that metformin is the best option to help with getting pregnant, i read on another blog that some women still have there periods like almost clock work every month wich and get preg much much like any other women , but with me i just simply never know i can go up to 5 months without one does this make me at higher risk of not being able to conceive? my partner and i have been together for a year and have decided we want to start trying for a baby now,

in the whole year we have been together tho we have not used a condom, i have always believed that it was going to be hard for me to get pregnant so a child would be a complete blessing to me if i did fall pregnant so even tho it wouldnt have been planned it i would have been ecstatic, any how my question is this........ in Australia whats the general round about cost for metformin? what are the side affects? and how well does it work? iv heard it also works with weight issues? Other there any other drugs in Australia that work?

Thanks alot for all your help

    I'm from Australia...and have PCOS.

Firstly, YAY..I'm so glad that you know about the miracle drug Metformin!!! I am always telling people to go on this drug because not only does it help us ovulate but it also drastically reduces chance of miscarriage!!!

Firstly DON"T WORRY ABOUT THE COST! I couldn't believe it, but I got my first prescription last month and it cost br like $6 for 100 tables, yes SIX dollars!!! So so so cheap it's not funny!!!

I've been taking it for around 3 weeks. I've started on really low dosage (500mg/day) - this is because my doctor is being careful to see how my body reacts and to make sure I don't feel sick (met oftern makes women nauseas and sick in the stomach because they start on a high dosage). Then, I'm increasing dosage if I don't respond- i.e. don't get period.

I found out that I have PCOS 6 months ago after stopping the pill. I HAVE HAD NO periods since stopping the pill!

Also, from age 15-18 I only used to get 2-3 periods a year...though PCOS wasn't diagnosed and instead I was put on the pill for 8 years : (

I'm not sure if the fact that we don't ovulate at all means that it will be harder or not. I think it definately means that it would be very hard to conceive naturally (as you know after TTC for a year!).

More importantly, IF you are overweight the best thing you can do is eat a really healthy diet and LOSE weight.

If you are thin (like me) then we just have to try different fertility treatments and hope that something works!!!

It's a waiting game and you have to be patient...treatments...appointments....tests...all take a lot of time and you have to remain positive and patient (easy to say I know).

Anyway all the very best...millions of women have conceived with our condition and hopefully we will join the millions sooner rather than later.

I've attached some infomation about Metformin below...though it sounds like you've researched it just as much as I have!

The tips to get pregnant given below are some effective ways to get pregnant fast and are natural ways of getting pregnant. Read here https://tr.im/olCwA

Women can easily keep a tab on their ovulation by maintaining a temperature chart. Usually around the time of ovulation there is a spike in the temperature of women.

Stress and strain has significant role to play in respect of reproductive cycle including ovulation and menstruation. So if you are planning to get pregnant see to it that your partner as well as you are calm and collected.

Diet, weight, physical fitness and lifestyle have direct bearing on pregnancy. This holds true for both men and women. Both underweight and overweight may be exposed to the risk of infertility on account of difficulties in ovulation. So optimum importance should be given to body weight. One should opt for balanced diet, regular work out and exercises.
