can you help me fix my heat pump?

Im a refrigeration installer but a admit I don't know much about a heat pump.

Update:

The blower runs all the time in the auto position. I have to turn the temp. down the get it to turn off. When I turn the temp. up from lets say 70 to 72 the blower starts up. then after a few minutes the Aux. kicks in. Only then will I get warm air. Then the blower will not turn off until I turn the temp. down or turn the swicth to off.

might be normal operation if its very cold outside....sometimes hard to tell if heat pump has a problem or its just struggling with cold temps..things to check...is outdoor unit running,,free of excessive frost/ice....is the larger of the 2 copper lines hot while heat is on after a few minutes [ peel back insulation to check],it should be about 100-110 deg above outdoor temp after heat has been on 10 minutes or more,so if its 20 deg outside, line temp should be around 120-130-deg ..is air coming from vents about 15-20 deg above room temp [return air temp] when its 30 deg outside,,a little less when colder,a little more when warmer.[check while heat is on but aux heat not on]....if so,heat pump ok,doing as well as it can..if not,you need a service call.......dan

That is normal operation of a heat pump.

There is no heat out there at this time for the heat pump to draw from the outside air so it produces little or no heat, the outdoor condenser may not even run or spends a lot of it's time in defrost when it is near freezing temperatures outside.

But the blower will run constantly and seem cold because it is producing almost no heat.

There is a three degree set back on the thermostat before the auxillary heat comes on. That is what you are noticing by turning the thermostat up.

When it is acting like that, generally when the outdoor temp is below 40 degrees, you should just switch to the emergency heat shutting off the heat pump and it will act normally but be running solely on the electric strip heat.

There is no reason to run the condensor if it isn't producing much heat.

But it is normal with that three degree set back for the fan to blow 24/7 in cold weather when the heat pump can't produce enough heat to heat the house. It is trying to heat but can't.

    Good Luck.

the owner is merely required to grant a suitable working warmth source for the wintry climate, except the hire especially shows in any different case. definite, the 'back up warmth source' will artwork effectively, and definite, it truly is going to be extremely greater costly, on the grounds that such is electrical powered resistance heating. it may be comparable to working a completely electric powered furnace.

What is going one with it, did you check the thermostat, breakers, is the outside breaker on, and did you change the air filter, do you have a service switch turned on, how about the safety switches, is the cover on correctly.
