Did Jesus ever make a mistake?

Did Jesus ever do something that was actually *wrong*?

Update:

Did Jesus ever do anything to others that he wouldn't have wanted done to himself?

Jesus never sinned which is something much different than making a mistake. Jesus was fully human as well as being God. It's quite possible that Jesus made errors everyday just like we all do.

Jesus could have stubbed His toe or anything else for that matter. But yet without sin.

    Praise be to Jesus.

Well, Jesus never made a mistake, but at least as reported in one of the gospels, there appears to be a slight lapse in judgment. The Bible says in Luke 2:41 that Jesus and his parents went to Jerusalem every year for the Feast of the Passover. When Jesus was twelve years old, he did not return home and his parents were unaware of his decision. That had to return and search for him. In fact, they scolded him by asking why he had treated them this way, meaning not telling them he was going to stay in the city.

On the surface, this seems like a lack of obedience. True, his parents should have known. However, they did not. It seems that simple respect would have required Jesus to tell his parents of his intention to not go back home with them.

Of course, I’m sure Bible commentators have a good explanation of this.

  • Not only was Jesus without sin, He forgave sin. And certainly sinless is an attribute to his deity. Historically in the West, people considered most holy have also been the most conscious of their own failures and sins. They are aware of their shortcomings and lusts and resentments, and they're fighting them honestly by the grace of God. In fact, they're fighting them so well that others take notice and say, "There is a holy man or woman." But along Jesus, who can say with straight face, "Which of you can convict me of sin?" If I said that, my mate and brothers and sisters and all who know me would be glad to stand up and testify, whereas no one could with respect to Christ.

Because Jesus is truly human, we can conjecture that He can make a mistake that is common to all humans. But not in the area that concerns our salvation. God will protect Him from such a mistake. And of course He could not sin.

Absolutely Not. JESUS CHRIST is GOD! All things where Created by Him, For HIM. BY HIS own Nature, HE can not lie to you, Nor will HE ever forsake you.
