Did anyone really watch or read the transcript of the Obama "Press Conference" tonight?

I am with you there - I turned the radio on as I was getting into the car and I swear - the man and his responses turn my stomach - funny - he talks about how bad the Bush years were - but he himself is part of the Democratic congress that did not help matters here - and the stimulus - where is the money going to go - his "friends" not into the homes of every American - infrastructure - well that's just nifty - what Americans are going to work on the roads - Americans are self-important and lazy - and if there is a job that they find "beneath themselves" they won't do it - allow an illegal to do it - then complain about it.

Case in point - my husband was laid off in retail. He is deaf and it is hard for him to find a job as a general rule - he was working again in a position cleaning a luxury condo complex (you know - vacuuming) in 3.5 weeks - making $1/less an hour than he was in retail. That position had been widely advertised for 45 days - and 2 nibbles - why - because people probably thought it was beneath them. I have friends whose husbands have been out of work for 18 months or more - and they are only looking in one area - this is a time of change - humility is needed and I pray we are able to survive as a nation with this man at the healm. Less than a mont and he is changing our Constitution - it's hanging by a thread - little by little.

As usual Obama's Speech tonight sounded well orchestrated.

It only took an average of about a minute for the reporters to ask a question but it took Obama between seven to ten minutes to answer.

One thing I have noticed over the past several months including the last days of the Bush administration. is gas prices.

A short while back when the liberals were announcing that they were not going to approve off shore drilling and work harder on seeking alternative power sources. Our fuel prices were going up a little more each and every day. In California we had reached prices of well over $4.30 per gal.

As soon as Bush announced that he was going to sign for drilling the prices began to drop. During the low period I was paying $2.75 per gal.

Now that Obama is in the drivers seat, once again the Fuel prices are on the rise.

While he was talking about major industry in Elkhart being hurt worse than any city in the U.S. He indicated that something had to be done to stimjulate the construction of their motor home industry.

Now I do not know of many alternate fuel sources for motor homes as most are equipped with internal combustion engines. Is he going to rethink the off shore drilling to achieve lower fuel prices?

I am not sure just how or what is in his stimulus package that will help Elkhart but this sounds a little like double talk.

I agree that it sure sounded scripted. He had his list of names prepared in advance by Robert Whats-His-Name and called on folks in the order Robert told him to. The only thing that makes me think that he DIDN'T insist he have the questions in advance is that two Fox guys were called upon.

You're absolutely right-this was an Infomercial. No matter what the question-even the junkie baseball player b.s.-was twisted into a stump speech.

I did watch it-waste of time-more of the same - but really only because he preempted my "programs." I didn't expect anything better.

I said the exact same thing (about it being scripted) to my girlfriend as we were watching it last night. The giveaway was the fact that he repeatedly chose a specific reporter without first looking up to see which ones were raising their hands.

And I agree about the very lengthy and seemingly prepared answers to each question. They were more like rehearsed speeches than answers. Just as the way the reporters asked the questions seemed rehearsed.

That wasn`t a press conference ; That was a "campaign speech" brought out of the closet ! Just like the one below !!

Yes, I watched from beginning to end. Funny I thought the press did a beautiful job of asking the important and relevant questions. The President has a list of the journalists at the podium, all by name and what organizations they represent. Maybe you are use to a President who was unable to answer a direct or complex question without butchering the English language and insulting people capable of thought. Perhaps communicating and proper English will catch on in the years to come.

Can't watch him. Creeps me out.

Yes, the man can't function without scripts but as you can see, libs, knowing this, have no complaints about it.

In fact, their only response is to proclaim him intelligent for not attempting to.

I saw it. He clearly had the people he was going to take questions from picked before hand. But if his answers were scripted he needs a new writer. He said some abysmally awful things tonight.

[Question: Thank you, Mr. President. In your opening remarks, you talked about that, if your plan works the way you want it to work, it's going to increase consumer spending. But isn't consumer spending, or overspending, how we got into this mess? And if people get money back into their pockets, do you not want them saving it or paying down debt first before they start spending money into the economy?]

[Obama: You know, if -- if all we're doing is spending and we're not making things, then over time other countries are going to get tired of lending us money and eventually the party's going to be over. Well, in fact, the party now is over.]

it is now a question on how can one believe the media anymore. they consist of unfaithful practitioners with different meaning of media or fourth estate. American values are going downturn with the economy.
