How do I go about abolishing my HOA in Taney county MO, if location makes a difference?

It takes a unanimous vote from everyone involved. If even 1 homeowner disagrees their rights will not be violated, the HOA stays in place.
You signed up for it, just like everyone else. Others can not abolish your rights to live in HOA property.

Suggest that you read the Deed Restrictions and By Laws of the HOA. It should tell you how the HOA is formed and what it would take to dissolve it.
I have read some Deed Restrictions that show an initial period and then an automatic 10 year renewal unless dissolved by all current members of the association.
There were some subdivisions where I live that had HOAs when they were built back in the 1950's, but then they just "melted" away. No official paperwork dissolving the association, just went away. These may have been "voluntary" HOAs with no annual fees. Nowadays it seems most new subdivision HOAs take their "jobs" seriously and have annual fees for common areas that require maintenance.
If you're talking about a condo or townhouse complex it probably cannot be dissolved or abolished.
Again, check your paperwork.

In most cases you can't.
Look at your documents---the ones you signed when you bought. (The law requires that they were part of your closing package) Most of them are iron clad...and don't allow a single owner to opt out.
You can complain to your state officials if you have a specific complaint...but leaving is not an option, sorry.

You can't, unless you get the signature of every (not most, every) single resident in the entire HOA to agree to it.
You cannot "opt out" of an HOA...you agreed to it when you purchased the home.
