What are the most eco-friendly vehicles in production?

What waste do they produce? I realize they're all going to be ridiculously expensive, but what ones are the best so far?

If your question is what is the MOST eco-friendly vehicle, then I would have to say the Honda FCX Clarity. It is a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. It leaves no carbon footprint. The "exhaust" is water and oxygen. Although they are quite a costly at present, and are only available for lease, Honda is making the effort to research and learn the technology to hopefully one day utilize a more efficient and environmentally responsible fuel source.

edit* exotic metals are recyclable, and are in your catalytic converter of your gas vehicle, too. The fuel is Hydrogen, helloooo? There has been statements made that hybrid electrics are questionably green from a manufacturing standpoint of the batteries. But I do believe that they are recyclable as well.

total overall eco friendly? The H2 car by Honda is down on the worst list because of the fuel cell and all the exotic metals required and that the fuel used to run the car creates about the same amount of pollutants as a NG vehicle. The H2 car actually uses natural gas, but people to want to here this.

The most eco friendly would be a car that uses 100% natural gas.

In production right now for the U.S. market, the Honda Civic Hybrid, the Toyota Prius, and the Smart fortwo get the best mpg--in that order. There is some debate about environmental impact from hybrid battery manufacture, some say it's awful and some say it's no big deal. The Smart fortwo is not hybrid, has the same issues as any other car.

I am a repsenitive of the go-one. they are the most eco-freindly vehicles , they are made in germany and can be shipped all over the world, they coast half of the average car (20,000) they are made by hand to cut the waste productes that a machine does, they can go 30 miles an hour with an eletric motor 70 if you try. and you can get a discount on them if you mention me in the ordering of one (justin mosca)

Ugh... I hate the Prius but it meets your query, burns gasoline, emits CO2 and water vapor, is affordable. But it emits quite a lot of CO2.

The Chevy Volt would win hands-down, if they weren't too busy going bankrupt to build it. Buy green power and plug it in!

Other than that, to get a super-eco car for cheap, you'd have to convert a gasoline car to electric. http://www.evdl.org/

Most eco-friendly? Tossup between the PCC and the BART C-2 car, but those are public transit vehicles..

They are not really. They get no better gas mileage that a Toyota Corolla and cost just as much. And in North America, repairs are at Mercedes Benz prices. They are good in European cities as they do not take up a lot of room but that is about it. In North America, in every other way, the Toyota Corolla, even a Chevy Cobalt beats them for mileage, cost and carrying capacity.

A regular bicycle is probably slightly more eco-friendly, but most people aren't even aware that "electric bikes" are an option. They're very affordable (as low as $499), and they release no harmful CO2 emmissions...

Aside from the ones listed already, the Honda Insight is up there with the prius

The best though would be the Yamaha Vino motorbike with up to 115 mpg

the best one in production is the aptera hybrid with about 300 mpg, max speed of 95 mph, cost about $30,000, its three wheeled so it counts as a motorcycle and that means less insurance cost. it comes out in october 2009.

Bicycles! Or maybe it is green shoes (the ones typically made with recycled tires and hemp) though I guess shoes aren't quite vehicles.
