It kinda sounds like you are trying to say daijoubu (kanji - 大丈夫 / kana - だいじょうぶ). This word, often asked as the question "daijoubu (desu ka) (大丈夫ですか)?", is a bit difficult to define. It often translates to "It will be OK," or, "I'm OK". It is sometimes said after something bad happens to someone, i.e. falls down. The question form is, "Are you OK?"
It is possible to answer the question with a simple hai or iie, however, this would seem a little blunt. If you want to answer with just yes, you would probably say "un", which is pretty much an "nn" sound. This is not to be confused with the "unn" which would just be a longer "nnn" with a slightly different inflection.
The best way, however, is just to match the politeness tone. If they ask "Daijoubu desu ka?", you can say "Daijoubu desu". For just "Daijoubu?!" you can say "Un, daijoubu."
Hope this helps!
