Libs and Cons: How do you feel about Taxpayers paying for Octuplets?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090212/ap_on_re_us/oc...
I don't really pay attention to the news, because well, I don't need to know that the world is very corrupt and full of bullcrap.
But after reading the article on the lady who gave birth to octuplets, I was mortified. I did not know that this woman has 6 previous children and then 8 more, which equals obviously as huge family.
I'm sorry but this woman needs to be sterilized.
I'm so tired of these damn welfare queens who get tax payers money just for lying on their back but me, the law abiding, hard working, honest citizen that I am, can't even get health insurance because I can't afford it. How does that make sense????
I am blaming her because she chose to do this. And other people's money is going to her kids, because she can't afford to even feed them. How is that right? How is there any honor or pride in that? Why would you want hand outs for your kids? Wouldn't you want to take care of them knowing that you work hard to do so?
Maybe I'm too old school for this sh!t. But I just don't get it. I live in Detroit and I see this sh!t all of the time and it pisses me off. Because when I'm at the grocery store and I see some woman with 8 kids and food stamps. I know that I'm essentially paying for her kid's food.
Stupid people should not breed!
Of course, let's put the blame on the doctor, yeah it wasn't right of the doctor especially when he knew about her circumstances, but this woman should have known better. She's the one giving birth, she's the one who is going to have to raise the kids. She's the one who walked into the office and said she wanted the treatment. Give me a break.
This woman is certifiable. She belongs in a nut house and the kids deserve parents who will care for them in the best way possible.

I'm all for the welfare system....for people or families who really do need it. That includes the disabled and the people who lost their jobs and are struggling to find a new one.
That being said....this woman infuriates me. She admitted that she lives with her parents (they lost everything trying to provide for her first batch of babies), that they have helped her financially and that she does get food stamps. Now, I don't want these babies to starve, but WTF is this woman thinking? She had a nice settlement and if she'd used it wisely, she could have provided for herself and her 6 kids for a year at least and gotten her act together during that time. Instead, she had plastic surgery so she could look like Angelina Jolie. She is nutzo.
I have questions about how this is going to play out. She lives in a 2 bedroom house with her parents and 6 children. Girls and boys, once they hit a certain age, are required to have separate rooms. How does that work? She takes the couch and her parents get the kitchen floor? Where in the hell is she going to put 8 more? Where is she going to put the 8 new cribs? High chairs? Car seats? Toys? Clothing? She CLEARLY did not think this through. Or maybe she did. Maybe she thought someone would build her a house, supply her with all the baby needs, layette, diapers, formula...etc. Well, she was wrong. It backfired.
I look for Children Services to step in soon. I'm betting before they leave the hospital. My guess is that those 8 shiny new babies will be up for adoption soon because there is no way in hell this woman can take care of them.
WHEW! Rant over....lol

Forced lobotomy's again. forced sterilization was done for many years in hospitals for mentally ill no matter the severity of illness. Kill all defective babies in vitro. Any preborn that may have a chance at being blind ,deaf, mute, downs syndromes, retardation, MS. Or any other defect.
Abuse of welfare is a crime and should be dealt with in the courts. The welfare system will be going after the idiot Doctors That let this happen. If we start doing forced medical procedures we are no better that a dictator state.

There is no way that this woman can properly care for 14 children, while she is supposedly disabled.
There is no way that welfare should pay for all these kids, she wanted, now make her support them, instead of taking money from welfare that could be helping someone to contributed to the tax base, and get help in their time of need.
Welfare needs to be overhauled, where they only pay for 3 kids and after that there is no more on the check or the food stamps, they have to learn to get by like normal citizens do.
They should also be limited to one doctor's visit a month unless they have a chronic health issues that requires them to see the doctor more. They should also be required to get generic medications, unless there is no generic equivalent to the medication.
At the stores and markets, those on food stamps and WIC, should be required to buy the generic brands of items in the stores, instead of them buying the brand name, working people buy generic, why should welfare recipients be different?
This woman needs to be institutionalized in a mental institution and the kids needs to be adopted out, this is nothing short of reckless endangerment.
I saw her house on one of the news programs, and it looked like a cyclone had run through the place, I understand that she had 6 kids at the time, but seriously, there is no way that this woman can properly care for 14 kids.
There are millions of people who are waiting to adopt children that would take them and raise them, instead of them having to compete with 13 other kids for attention.

Having worked in Child Protective Services as well as Prosecuting Welfare Cheats - Welfare CAN be a good thing - to tide one over in times of trouble.
The problem here is that this woman is obviously psychotic, her Doctor should be stripped of his license BUT I agree that the children must be cared for. I would take them away from Mom because she is obviously incompetent. There are a lot of couples out there who are praying for an adoption opportunity that doesn't require them to go to Russia.
I further suggest that there was a breakdown in the Welfare system in California (GASP!). This should never have beem permitted to occur in the first place.
Get Mom much needed mental health - take the babies and provide them with loving and caring homes where THEIR needs come first - not ditzy MOM.

What I find the most wrong with this situation is that the "fertility specialist" had already been used 6 times by this woman. He knew she already had 6 children, knew she was impoverished and went ahead and implanted her anyway. We have already paid and are continuing to pay for the first 6 and now are paying for the extremely expensive care for those 8 babies. We will be continuing to care for this woman and her 14 children.
This is the result when you don't take personal responsibility for your own health choices. You have and I know that when you can afford it you will get your own insurance. Some peoples choices just don't make any sense.

Biblically, the Christians of the world should be supporting her. After all, she is the antithesis of abortion. Start passing the plate, and better make it a big one.
As for your fatigue with "welfare queens," I'd rather throw money at this silly woman than the corporate welfare. As Arlo Guthrie opined, a man with a briefcase stole more money than any man with a gun.
One day in Iraq would pay for the entire lifetimes of these kids. I don't approve of her having the kids, but now that they're here, what do you expect, A Modest Proposal? What did the babies do wrong?
Blame the mom, blame the doc, but don't punish the kids.

I'm conservative..
I feel it's the doctors fault. Forced sterilization is a sick thought.
I do though think welfare is a bad policy and should be scraped. If she was in need the local churches and volunteer groups could help her. These people get free money and food and feel no need to go get work.

This sorry situation does have a silver lining - it forces the Powers That Be to pay more attention to the issues of mental instability and medical malpractice.
The octomom needs a guardian to manage her affairs, and the "fertility doctor" needs his license revoked.
And that's from a liberal's point of view.

That woman should be in counseling and NOT having kids.
This is great. So she gets to vicariously address her unfullfiled needs by having children who are supposed to meet them?
Not like there are not 6 billion inhabitants and more than the earth can support already.

That person is sooo whacked that she also said she isn't on welfare. I guess just because the word welfare is not used for the money she gets, she truly thinks that it therefor is not welfare. I don't think there are any people in this world who have one dot of respect for that women.
