What is it about capitalism you don't like?

All or any who voted Obama, why do you prefer a socialized type of government, welfare state, rather than capitalism?

Update:

I realize that both parties seemed to be taking down the same road, but that is not the question.

I like capitalism just fine. I do however believe that unregulated capitalism as proposed by Republicans and economic Libertarians eventually becomes extremely destructive to the middle class.

The question is strange, so i'll correct it a little. A conservative government that is a die hard capitalist advertises a small government, this, that, and the other thing are not the governments job. Such and Such is not our call, that problem there has to be sorted out another way, that's not what the government does. Then it grows government large, and is so financially irresponsible that everyone suffers.

A government that embraces socialism says that it is going to grow government so large and say that a whole lot of stuff is the business of the government. Then, it's going to use our money to support the things that it says, such as health insurance for all citizens, massive infrastructure investments, lots of medical research, investments in the arts.

Some people respond differently to these two questions:

"Do you mind paying an extra $100 a year in property tax?"

"Do you mind paying an extra $100 a year in property tax, if that money is put towards cancer research?"

I imagine that whichever form of government or economy we have, i'll do my fair share of complaining. I just love to ***** and moan.

    Greed.

Corporations think they should have the rights as a person, without responsibilities that go with that privilege. I'm not against capitalism, I'm against multimillion dollar salaries AND multimillion dollar bonuses for executives that have run the companies they run through the ground, while they cop out on paying livable wages and benefits and cut jobs to their workers. It's pure greed and arrogance. I would love to see any CEO ACTUALLY do a day's work that they think is so worthless to them.

    Ron Paul supporter here.

I prefer less government, but the way things are going right now, we have NEVER had so much government interference in our private lives, so little common sense regulation in business. Gimme, gimme, gimme. I MUST have million dollar office makeovers, private jets and $10 million dollar Super Bowl Parties, while getting taxpayer bailouts and cutting jobs. Greed, pure and simple.

True capitalism does NOT get bailouts, it lets the market correct itself.

There is plenty of wealth in this country, but the last 8 yrs. have put enormous amounts of money in the hands of very few and they all seem pretty corrupt.

    It totally disgusts me.

Hmmm, let me see. Before I start Obama ain't a socialist, he's a capitalist, okay?

There are many reasons why I hate Capitalism. Capitalism is the system whereby the rich use the working class to produce profit for themselves. Then a fraction of this profit is then returned to the working class. The rich people in a capitalist society have acquired wealth only through exploitation and oppression of the working class. No rich person has a right to massive amounts of wealth whilst children in Africa die from starvation. Capitalism is the ultimate form of oppression where other inequalities are expressed in terms of race, sexual orientation, gender etc. It works to keep class structures and inequality in place becuase these hierachies and structures benefit the rich, the ones who have power. Any society which is not based on the principle of "to each according to thier faculties, to each according to their needs" is an oppresssive evil force. A society of freedom is not a society of capitalism, a society of freedom is one of economic equality combined with individual liberty, one without hierachy.

    So I say:

    POWER TO ALL THE PEOPLE

A statement the Capitalists fear for they detest the rights of human beings to be free and equal. Because the Capitalists say this:

POWER TO THE RICH WHITE HETEROSEXUAL MALES

What don’t I like about Capitalism….Hum, I guess it’s the way it makes me feel inferior to those who worked harder than I did. I mean, why can’t I live in a system where it’s all equal, why do the rich people get to have all the good stuff, I want that too. Why can’t I have a 70” TV in every room of my house? I watch Cribs, I like what I see, but why do they get to have all that and I don’t. I work hard too, French fries don’t make themselves you know……..

Oh, sorry, I was channeling a Democrat for a second there. I like most of the aspects of a Capitalist democracy, hard work is rewarded, laziness is not. I see no reason why the American dream should be anything other than what it is, work hard and make a life for yourself. It is a privilege to do so, not a right. The downside to capitalism is that it creates class envy. Those who work hard achieve success, and those who do not, complain that they have been treated unfairly. Capitalism is not an inherently equal system, it is fair, but it is not equal, there is no maximum benefit for your hard work, but there is a minimum. CEO’s can make huge profits, far more than what socialists call fair, but that’s the beauty of America, if you don’t like working for a boss that makes more than you, go work elsewhere, or start your own company, be the Boss and get rich.

Mainly the fact that it doesn't work, because it's based on greed, corruption & high unemployment (the less employees, the more profit). Just look back at history, and you will see that capitalism is a series of bubbles, bursts, depressions, recessions, bank panics, bank failures & stagflation. Don't ever kid yourself about history, because there's always a guy out there like me who knows if backwards and forwards.

And some fools say, "Oh, but it has improved the quality of life so much," which has really only amounted to the pollution and ruin of our planet, and largely for the good old USAmerican rat race.

Capitalism enriches the rich on the bodies of the poor and working classes(there is no concern about all the classes of society, just one), while socialism gives somehow equal chances ,state of life 2 all.

In capitalism everyone has an opportunity to become successful. The harder you work, the further you take your education, the more you are motivated, etc... the higher you can climb up the ladder.

If your a lazy *** and believe that the government knows what is best for you and if you believe that hard work and good ideas should not be rewarded you will like socialism..

    Only a few benefit.

And no, I would not prefer a welfare state. Socialism in it's true form, which has not been experienced on this planet in the past couple millenia, would be much preferable. Please stop spouting nonsense about liberals wanting a welfare state, you don't even know what you're talking about. A welfare state is created by capitalists who don't want anyone to get ahead.

My guess is they have never tasted true capatalism. They have tasted a socialist watered down version that keeps getting more and more dilluted.

But lets be honest here. The real reason is they would rather chase worldy desires and all try to live an easy come lifestyle. Would rather have things given to them. Rap and Hip hop promote this, from selling/dealing to hustling, to making records. Everyone cant be successfull at everything, but the hard work has been removed and if you cant get it quick then you just dwell in misery and take a handout.
