How many days has he had this fever for?

I am assuming you are giving him Children's Motrin or something like it, yes? It could just be a prolonged fever if it has only been a few days. If it gets worse, then yes, do. I would call your doctor either way.

try a warm bath, if that doesn't break the fever, then be ever so diligent on checking his temp 103.5 would be about the time I take him to the hospital. I had a fever at 104 when I was 5 and a warm bath broke the fever.

101.9 is not bad, but its not good. I would give him a lot of water, and juices with low sugar and salt count. He may be dehydrated.

As long as you can get him to drink gatorade or pedialyte and your giving him the ibuprofen.

Did you call your doctor? He/she would know what to do. Don't listen to strangers.
