Dunkin Donuts Payroll Policies?

My Nephew started working for a Dunkin Donuts store, part time, on February 2, 2009. This is in Camby, Indiana which is a suburb of Indianapolis.

His manager told him that he would receive his first pay on Friday, February 13. At hire he opted to receive his pay by direct deposit with his bank. It is now Saturday afternoon. There is no money in his account. He asked his manager about it and she said his first pay would come in the form of a paper check and it would be mailed to the house. Mail has already been delivered for today and there was no check. He asked his manager about it again and she became angry.

In the employee handbook it reads like the checks are to be passed out at the store during non busy hours. He was told they no longer do that even though thats what the handbook states. So does anyone know the real answer about how hourly employees are paid? Preferably I'd like an answer from someone who actually works for the company.

If it went into the bank directly it may take a couple of days before he sees it since it takes the bank time to process it. It sucks and you would think it would be automatic but it never is.

If it's mailed out on the 13th then it should be a few days for the mail. Again, it sucks but thats just USPS for ya.

If it was the be handed out then he should have seen it by now. It's entirely possible that their handbook is outdated and they no longer do it. If it was me, I'd wait a couple of days just to give them the benefit of the doubt and then I'd start to raise a stink. No point in raising a stink now since: 1) it's a weekend and anyone you could raise a stink with is off for the weekend; and B) I'd hate to raise a stink just to have the cheque arrive in the mail monday or tuesday or show up in his bank account by that time (did he even give them his banking info to get this done cause if not thats another sign someone is lying). I do know that most times when you start a new job there is often one paycheque that is delayed while they get you in the system but I don't know if this could be the case this time.

The manager should have been more helpful then that though. Then again, I don't imagine that Dunkin Donuts would hire the cream of the managerial crop. lol

Source(s): Sorry I don't work for the company. Take or leave it all as you wish though.
