Car seat and travel question?

I am planning on flying with a child that needs to use a car seat. I would be needing a car seat once we get to where we are going. Can I take it with me on the plane? Would the airline charge me for it? Do any car rental places rent them along with or as an extra charge with their cars? If there are a lot of charges, I think I'll just buy another one when I get to where I'm going and then just donate it somewhere. I do, travel, but it is usually in our own vehicle.

You can usually take them with you if you have it in a travelbag. You can buy these at Babies R Us or online. Don't trust a rental place to have one for you. They say they have them but they are usually all gone by the time you need to rent one. If money isn't too tight buying one and donating it might be the easiest route. Thats what I'd do, a new one can be as low as $60.

Every airline handles that differently. Best find out by calling your airline or, if you haven't booked yet, call around and pick the best one
