Cali or Florida...............?

I want to move somewhere a lot warmer than Illinois, but of course, not too hot. I don't want to be in danger of hurricanes or earthquakes..is there anywhere in Florida or California that is affordable (I will be a recent college graduate, as well as my husband) but decently safe as far as those 2 things are concerned? I know that's a tough question, but I am fine with being a little ways (hour or two) from a beach. If I could live in Hawaii, I would, and I love the temp and everything there, and I know I could never get that on the mainland, but is there anywhere that is similar to what I am describing? And is affordable.. Or if there are any other places in states that aren't Florida or Cali but fit that description?

Decent jobs available

Apartments with decent prices but not dingy and crappy.

Not affected much by hurricanes or earthquakes.

Thanks.. I know this is a lot to ask and probably not possible, but if you have any suggestions..that'd be wonderful!!!

Update:

I'm married...don't need to go somewhere for attractive guys...

Cali is a drug cartel state in Colombia. We don't call it "CALI". It's CA, CAL, or, CALIF.

In Florida there's more affordability where in California, there's NO SUCH THING.

There's no such thing as a safe area. There's crime everywhere.

There's more job openings available in Florida than there are in California. California has the WORST unemployment rate in the United States right now (1 out of 10 in CA are jobless.)

Again, Florida has more spacious apartments for the same price you'd be paying for a small, crappy one in California.

While in (let's say Orlando) you can rent a newer small 1bd/1ba apartment for $500/mo., that same sized apartment (let's say Los Angeles) only it's old and crappy, will cost DOUBLE. Plus, they're more beautiful looking than California apartments.

In Florida, there are some parts where you will not get affected by a hurricane.

In California, it's earthquake country. You will be at risk for earthquakes no matter where in CA you are (we have the biggest fault in the world [San Andreas fault])

I moved to a small town 40 miles north of Tampa, after I retired. I LOVE it here. It's quiet & UR only 1-2 hrs away from Disney World, Busch Gardens, Sea World & a lot more interesting places. We rarely get hurricanes here, & yes it gets cold about a week in the winter. Lowest is upper 20s for a few hrs at night, then warms up to 50s & 60s during the day. Some days it even gets in the upper 80s. The humidity isn't very high either.

As a snowbird, I don't know too much about the summer, but here on Gulf Coast It's not as humid as the center & Atlantic Coast. Heat can get into the 90s during summer according to neighbors.

If you can't take the heat, don't come to Florida. The humidity in the summer is something to which many people cannot adjust themselves.

Jacksonville, FL, or St. Augustine, FL have few hurricanes or tropical storms and somewhat cooler temperatures.

California is on a fault line and has an expensive cost of living.

You might like Atlanta, which is inland, or Brunswick, Georgia.

California. Why? The procuring adventure. can not beat la. The food. Vegan, chinese language, Ethiopan. call a delicacies and we've plenty to choose for between. the united statesand Caltech. how many proper tier colleges do you adult men have? And we are the only place in the place you may bypass snowboarding and sunning on the sea coast interior the comparable day. the cost of living is in many situations decrease in Florida because of the fact much less human beings want to be there so of course the cost of living is going to be decrease. And what states generate extra redneck thoughts than the different states? Flor-ra-duh.
