Christians have you noticed that there seems to be an extraordinary large emphasis on spiritual gifts today?
Spiritual gifts serve an important purpose in the Body of Christ. But so does the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Do you think the ministry of the Holy Spirit manifesting His fruit is more important than any spiritual gift.?
It is wise to continue to seek the power and manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit, for they do help us.
We are called to be conformed to the image of God only begotten Son, Jesus.
WE must remember that gifts are given, but Spiritual fruit is developed.
The fruit of the Spirit,(also known as our Spiritual Medicine Chest) comes to us when we receive Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, however, it only comes as a small seed which must be nurtured and developed in our lives (or watered) through prayer, by reading the Word, and by putting faith into action.
If Christ is in us, then we should be Christlike. The fruit of the Spirit is the display of the character of Christ. It is His presence within us that enable us to develop the spiritual fruit in our lives....
Please share your thoughts and please remember I value both, spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit and I see the need to be conformed to the image of Christ!
What is our emphasis according to Matt 6:33?
Thankyou for considering this question Christians, and please do answer for the edification of the body of Christ. Is this a valid point for us to consider in light of many scriptures, such as John 15:5; 16/ Psalm 1: 1-3; Heb 10: 25; Ps 92: 13-14.

The gifts of the spirit and the fruit of the spirit go hand in hand. You can't have one without the other..Paul said, Though I speak with tongues of men and of Angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass or a tingling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy and understand all mysteries, and have all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so I could move mountains, and if I have not LOVE, I am nothing. And even if I give all my good to feed the poor and though I give my body to be burned, and if I don't have love. It profits me nothing... Very good question. Christians need to learn what it means to walk in the spirit of God for your spirit being united with Christ, has both the fruits and the gifts of the spirit within you. If we walk carnally and according to the old nature. it shows that we aren't alive unto righteousness and still a servant to sin..

The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 14:1 that we are to pursue love (ie the fruit of the Spirit) and desire spiritual gifts. This is the balance. The gifts of the Spirit is to be exercised with the fruit of the Spirit otherwise the motivation for the exercise of the gifts may be fleshy and not out of the love of God. For we are called to love as Jesus Himself has loved us (John 13:34) and with the love of God that has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). Both the fruit and the gifts of the Spirit must go together in our ministry to others. God bless you.

Yes God is Good.
Different gifts are imparted to different ones, that the workers may feel their need of one another. God bestows these gifts, and they are employed in His service, not to glorify the possessor, not to uplift man, but to uplift the world's Redeemer. They are to be used for the good of all mankind, by representing the truth, not testifying to a falsehood. . . . In every word and act, kindness and love will be revealed; and as each worker fills his appointed place faithfully, the prayer of Christ for the unity of His followers will be answered, and the world will know that these are His disciples.
Source(s): Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. . . . Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 1 Cor. 12:1-6. The talents that Christ entrusts to His church represent especially the gifts and blessings imparted by the Holy Spirit. "To one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: but all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will" (1 Cor. 12:8-11). A God-given Faith To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit. 1 Cor. 12:9. Faith, too, is the gift of God. Faith is the assent of man's understanding to God's words, that binds the heart to God's service. And whose is man's understanding, if it be not God's? Whose the heart, if it be not God's? To have faith is to render to God the intellect, the energy, that we have received from Him; therefore those who exercise faith do not themselves deserve any credit. Those who believe so firmly in a heavenly Father that they can trust Him with unlimited confidence; those who by faith can reach beyond the grave to the eternal realities beyond, must pour forth to their Maker the confession "All things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee" (1 Chron. 29:14). - 1 decade ago
Why do some people feel the need to come in here to attack & insult those who believe in God? Are your lives that shallow that you have to come on & not respect the beliefs of others? If you hate God & religion so much why are you here? Just for the purpose of trying to ruin the day of those who do believe? If you hate God & Religion so much don't come here & stop harassing those who do believe. Do something better with your lives. I think Strawberry's question is a nice question & spiritual gifts is a wonderful thing.

Who or where is focusing to the extreme on gifts of the Spirit??? I don't see it! If you are in the charismatic movement, then yes, you see it, but otherwise, probably not.
I'm in a Pentecostal church but my pastor never talks about the gifts of the spirit. He's always talking about building character---the fruits of the spirit.

WEll let me put it to all plainly WITHOUT the GIFT/s of God
One can NOT have the Fruits of GOD
They are on the SAME Tree.......
One does not pick and choose but its GOD who gives liberally of ALL , His Gifts and FRuits we bear...
The Problem comes in when people refuse to accept Gods Word and what He says about it and wants to follow their OWN desires and or church doctrines rather then OBEY and Follow Christ Himself
Jesus said , These works i do , GREATER shall YOU do cause I go away and SEnd the Comforter ( Holy Ghost) [ Spirit of God] to you.
ALL of His disciples , Prophets of old and ALL who believe and name the Name of Jesus are to be Infilled with the Baptizm of the Holy Ghost and Fire.....it is an actual event just as it was on the day of Pentacost.....and if you will read the Bible it plainly says...HAve you recieved Since you believed ? Believing unto Salvation is different then Baptizm of Fire by the Spirit of God .
YES the Spirit of God comes in and dwells in the believer , but as the scripture plainly says , FROM Your belly shall flow Rivers of Living water...that is the Rising up of the Spirit of God ( Holy Ghost ) from within and the person who will come to that knowledge and allow that very same spirit to move through them ALL the Gifts can work in a persons life just as God himself Gives when needed...
Read and see where it says teh Holy Ghost Came UP on them .....
even in the Prophets of Old the Spirit of God Came UP on them and they Spoke and did many wonderous things.....
THEY ALL are of the SAME SPIRIT of God.....
They are NOT separate things......
Is God then separate from Himself ?
NO He is not , neither is the Spirit of God whom He is
The Gifts and callings of God are without Repentance
ONe can not even Name the Name of Jesus without the Holy Ghost
( Spirit of God )
They ALL are His Fruits and ALL His Gifts are ALL HIM !!
If He dwells in you...so does ALL He Possesses !!

Strawberry,
Our evening service was pointed at just this topic this evening (Sunday). I was having some blood sugar issues or I would be able to convey what was said then. I will attempt to get a copy of his sermon on cassette tape and listen to it then answer your question and talk about that sermon with you if you are interested. Have a great week.
Thanks,
