What is your opinion of the Free Masons?

No...I'm not a Free Mason. This is just a survey.

Well, they do some good work supporting various causes including poor, hospitalized kids in need of surgery, and I applaud them for that. That aside, I think they and their fezzes and conventions are just about as ridiculous as the "Mystic Knights of the Sea" Lodge Hall bunch in the old TV and radio show.

Source(s): But fer pity's sake, they are NOT a Satanic group. Hexagrams ( or whatever) and silly hand signs do not "call up" demons, so get over it.

My dad was a free mason. He got as high as a 32 degree mason and a shriner. They do a lot of good work with burn victims in the Shriner's Hospitals. The donations they get go to people that cannot pay for the doctors and hospital stay. The free Masons was like his church. It was his belief system. I know that in order to become a 32 degree mason you must belive in God.

I don't think they are devil-worshippers like conspiracy theorists seem to believe . . . I think it's just an old "fraternity" of sorts. Possibly left lots of "Masonic" symbols in architecture or currency designs (etc) around the world that don't really have a significant, sinister meaning, but it interested them to see these symbols that went unnoticed by everyone else. Sort of surreptitiously marking their terrority. Demonstrating how high up they've gotten in the world in a secretive way that only those who are looking / are masons themselves can really see and appreciate.

I don't really have an opinion on them. They're fine by me, I guess.

My grandpa was a Free Mason, so if they plan on taking over the world, they really need to start enforcing higher standards.

Freemasonry represents itself as a brotherly, charitable organisation, but in fact contains all manner of rituals put together from various religious traditions. It contains elements of the Satanic. My big objection to it is that the secrecy encourages masons to do favours for each other to the detriment of others and in practice they don't act as benevolently as they claim to.
