How painful is a neck tattoo?

Where exactly on the neck are you thinking?

If you're thinking about the back of the neck then no it doesn't hurt too much. Of course it hurts some like any tattoo will but it is not more painful. I got a tattoo on the back of my neck, but at the bottom of the back of my neck so that when I have a job interview or some other social situation where a visible tattoo is not preferable I can cover it with a collared shirt. It didn't hurt to get, it was just weird when he was going over my spine because it made me neck vibrate and I could feel it in my head.

For the front of the neck I would imagine that it is a little more sensitive. Also, a lot of tattoo artists might refuse to do a tattoo on the front of the neck for fear of puncturing the main arteries there or damaging something important. Also, tattoos on the front of the neck are much more difficult to hide.

i imagine the neck would be painful. thin skin, little fat, near bone, and VERY sensitive. i have to agree with the first answerer, as much as i LOVE tattoos, depending on your life situation, a neck tattoo may not be the best spot.

The pain doesn't matter...why would you want one on your neck?

Really it depends on your pain threshold.

I would hope a decent Tattooist wouldn't do it for you unless you are already covered in them.

My husband says sides of the neck..not bad. Throat...super painful.

Don't do it unless you are heavily tattooed is something I have to agree with. You will regret it.

yes it can be very painful but it depends just were on the neck you have it.

PLEASE!!!!!! Unless you are allready heavily tattooed any self respecting tattoo artist will advise against neck tattoo's. They are very very hard to hide if you need to hide them because of work, or because a certain social situation warrants you hiding your tattoo's.
