niece in-law just announced her engagement.....?
I will not be able to attend their engagement party because it is on the other side of the world. Do you give engagement gifts in Islam or should I wait till the wedding celebration? I'm not sure since our engagement party and wedding party was all in one.

Salam for you. There is no tradition of engagement in Islam. There is only the marriage proposal in Islam for asking the permit from the father of a woman to get married with his daughter. So you do not need to attend the engagement party You can give your gift on the wedding party of your niece in law You can ask for information when the marriage party will be celebrated.

thats cute. no harm in sending a gift , ever. but regardless if you do or do not, you definately have to give one at the wedding itself., so its your choice, 2 gifts for 2 occasions, or just the one for the wedding.
