I need a bible reference! Can you help?
I need a bible reference that supports the killing of heretics or blaphemers from the OLD TESTAMENT
(I already found Leviticus 24:16
24:16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.")
ANY OTHERS?

most of the stuff is in the new testament.
Source(s): bible. - 1 decade ago
I kings 21:11-14 may be one...check it out
BUT THE NEW TESTAMENT REALLY ADDRESSES IT!!!.....
Mark 3:28-29 Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation.
google a Bible concordance and type in blaspheme and that might help as well.

"Heretics" do NOT appear in the bible, only in later Church history.
As to blasphemers: try to find a decent "Bible concordance", it will list every single reference to blasphemers that appear in the bible.
Try logging on to "Nave's Topical Bible" for at least 25 references to blasphemy and it's punishment.

Why do you ask? Are you looking for an excuse to stone someone? Or are you looking for someone to stone YOU?
Those are the only two reasons I can think of that would require justification for stoning someone.
But before you do, you first have to become a Jew, to whom and for whom the Jewish Law was written.
But if that is NOT your intention, I will tell you what Jesus said, "He who is without sin, cast the first stone!"
Mercy is greater than Law:
"But go and learn what this is, I will have mercy and not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." (Mat 9:13 MKJV)
"But if you had known what this is, "I desire mercy and not sacrifice," you would not have condemned those who are not guilty." (Mat 12:7 MKJV)

The Old Testament shows our need for Jesus and promises He will come. The New Testament fulfills the promise. There is no support for killing in either one.
