Can the father go with the doctors when they take the infant away?
I want to know if my partner can go with the doctors when they take the baby away? He read something and now a lil paranoid. This world is crooked and I thought i'd "Yahoo" the answer to the question before I ask my doctor on Monday.
Question again:
Can my partner go with the doctors after I give birth to my child. I guess to watch them clean the baby up etc. etc.
Thanks
Aww man thanks for the speedy response!
I wish i could reward everyone. THANKS!

Yes he can go and I highly recommend it! Some people that work in hospitals are just everyday people who we don't know and taking the chance of something happening or them not being fully careful with our children is too risky.
I know that they tried to get me to have my daughter sleep in the nursry at times, saying that I needed some rest, wasn't happening she stayed with me at all times right next to my bed. And her father went with her when they took her away to do tests because I had to stay in bed. It is your child and they aren't allowed to tell you no you can't have someone stay with her.

Im actually lucky because the hospital I go to my L&D room actually has a small cubical area so they dont take the baby out of the room at all. They will clean him up there, have all the necessary monitors and everything there. They actually also just started doing this new thing where they do all the apgar scoring and everything while you are holding your new baby...it promotes bonding i think...my husband will cut the cord while Im holding the baby, They will suction the baby while im holding him and everything. The only time they will take him away is 1. if there are any problems. 2. after all the initial stuff is done and they have to take him away to get other things checked out (all prodecural) anyway I like the idea he doesnt leave my room right away and when he is getting taken care of I can just look right over and see what they are doing. That way my husband can be with me and the baby at the same time. Its pretty cool.

They usually put the baby on your belly while cleaning him up, etc. But after you've had some bonding time and it's time for baby to go to the nursery, sure dad can go. Just be sure to let the nurses know that dad wants to be with baby at all times.

Usually they do all this right in your room now- you give birth, they clean you and the baby up and you stay in the same room. I'm sure it probably is okay if your husband goes if they do take the baby- they just bring them down to the nursery. Talk to your dr. anyway- I'm sure he'll reassure you! Good Luck!

I tell you what, if they told me no I would raise some HELL. I don't want our baby out of our site after i give birth, if i can't go my fiance will, I had my son at a birthing center, he never left our side & we went home the day i gave birth. This time we're going to the hospital & they will NOT take our baby without one of us going along......

Yes, my fiance did, sadly after all MY hard work, I laid in a room by myself for about 30 minutes! I would have loved to see everyone looking at my son through the little window! But yes my fiance got to go with them as soon as they took him away.

Yes, and he should. In fact, if it is at all possible, you should have them do all tests and cleaning in your presence, in your room, and only after an hour or so once you two have had time to get to know each other and possibly begin nursing.

Of course! My hubby did! They let him watch the bath and routine health stuff that they do after the birth. It's his baby, not theirs. He can watch whatever he wants when it comes to the child.

yes by all means...when i delivered mine, my partner went with the baby. At that point the focus is no longer you its the baby and if things go smoothly they try to keep the baby in your room anyway, (in some hospitals). But yes by all means, unless something is wrong and they need to intervene he is welcome to go with the baby...congrats

i had a c-section and my husband left with the nurses and the baby right after he was born and went to the nursery.
