Why did I get a Violation Notice from this Q/A?

This was from a couple of days ago. Everyone else answered "You need more protein", but I got a violation notice. I am desputing it as I don't see anything wrong with my answer. Do you find that it should have been in violation? Please tell me why if you can.

It was in the food category. Thanks. Q/A below.

Question: is it possible to eat too much fruit and veggies?

Question Details: ive recently made the decision to get healthy n eat more fruit and veggies in place of other snacks. and i was wondering if u can eat too much fruit and/or veggies for it to be bad for ur health?? silly i know but it was just one of those randoms questions id like to know :p thanks! =]

Deleted Answer: Everyone said "make sure you eat protein"...well, how about calcium as well? An apple and a yogurt for lunch would be perfect. Calcium keeps your bones and teeth strong. Eat all the veggies you want. I like my veggies steamed with rice and a hunk of cheese inside it to melt. Got it all there but the meat. Brown rice is best for you, but it can be el dente if your not used to firmer rices. Jasmine rice smells sweet and has more flavor than plain rice.

Violation Reason:Community Guidelines and/or Terms Of Service Violation

Update:

Friday Morning-I just found out that they restored my answer and apologized to me as well. YEA!

    Hi Crazy Horse,

Having had at least one question/answer deleted in the past myself, the short answer is: someone complained about your answer to Yahoo.

Whether you legitimately answered the question or not is sadly kind of irrelevant (btw, I think you did answer the question, as part of a greater take on nutrition). Look through the Answer archives for similar questions about consumption of fruits and vegetables. You'll find all sorts of non-germane answers (one poster answered a vegetable question with "make sure your sh*t doesn't turn green"). In those cases, people likely either ignored them or just gave them a thumbs down instead of reporting them.

As to disputing the deletion...I wish I could tell you your chances were good, but they probably aren't. When a question of mine was deleted in Rock and Pop (it was a question about Billy Idol, completely G-rated, and on topic). It took them three days to respond and that was with a form letter about their policies. Didn't get my points back or the question restored.

I wouldn't sweat it too much, though it *is* irritating as heck. I've seen some genuinely inappropriate posts get a pass while others get yanked for seemingly no reason. I really think it all depends on the Yahoo employee reviewing them.

    Hope this helps a little.

You should appeal, but technically you are not to refer to other answers in yours. "Everyone said "make sure you eat protein"..." could be a very borderline violation. It sounds like you are commenting on their answer instead of answering the question. And what happens if the ten people after you don't say that, then your answer is confusing. I think you will win this one, but take the lesson to not refer to other answers.

Also put the "Eat all the veggies you want." first thing so people see your answer before you go into other subjects.

Although your answer was very informative and well intended, the question asked if it was possible to eat too much fruit and veggies? It's a Yes or No question... you didn't really answer the question. You gave some great nutritional advice, but the asker still doesn't know by your answer if it's possible to eat too much fruit and veggies.

You did not answer the question. The person asked if they can eat "too much". You responded about eating other items.

I think you didn't answer the actual question. i think it's a great answer. Please don't let it get to you, and please don't bother arguing with the Gods at Y!A.

I've been here 2 years, and have answers get deleted. I have tried to argue, to no avail. Move on, don't be discouraged, i LOVE your Q & A
