I need a way to convert a quicktime movie file...?

... on a PC with Windows Movie Maker and Pinnacle Studio 8. Right now, the files are on a DVD, quicktime movie file, and it says read-only. Is there anyway I can edit them?

It says "Read Only" because it is on a DVD.

You need to convert the file to a format Windows Movie Maker and Pinnacle Studio 8 prefers...

    Download and install StreamClip

    http://www.squared5.com/

    or

    HandBrake

    http://handbrake.fr/

Put the disc in the optical drive of your computer. Launch StreamClip or HandBrake, convert to a file type like .wmv or .avi and save to your computer's hard drive. When the conversion is complete, quit the video converter application you used and launch MovieMaker or Studio 8 and drag the converted file to the clips pane or timeline and edit.

You can go to http://convertersoft.com/ to download a converter.

I personally use ultimate DVD + Video converter suite.

    It works very well
